Rumours about what fans can expect from the future of Deadpool have been flying since the first movie ended and the post-credits scene saw Ryan Reynolds‘s masked antihero profess his hopes to star alongside Cable in the next movie, should one be commissioned. People have been talking about Domino making an appearance since early last year, with the rumours seemingly confirmed later on in 2016 and casting coming to a head just this month. Let’s face it; Deadpool was every raunchy, comic book-adoring individual’s dream. It had everything you could ask for from one of the most sarcastic actors in Hollywood perfecting the role to some of the most gruesome fight scenes to grace the screen and the superhero movie trend in a long time. In the post-credits scene from Deadpool, they did a great callback to Ferris Bueller’s Day Off where Deadpool tells the audience “it’s over, go home.” During the scene, he comments on how some marvel films give a post-credits reveal, but Deadpool’s not that kind of movie. Of course he then completely reneges and says that there will be a sequel, and Cable will be in it. Comic book fans love the time-traveling mutant son of Cyclops and Jean Grey clone Madelyne Pryor who helped turn the New Mutants into the elite fighting force, X-Force. One member of X-Force who Cable has had a long history with is Domino.
Even before Deadpool was a blockbuster success during its opening weekend, fans were crowing that Deadpool was going to rock their comic book movie world. FOX was also very confident in the new movie, green-lighting a sequel before that opening weekend. After that incredible box office crushing weekend, no one could deny the speeding train that was Ryan Reynolds‘ Deadpool would continue steam on to greater heights. Ever since that historical moment when two comic book geeks managed to find themselves in the same room together, the question of which super hero or villain would win in a fight to the finish has been an inevitable topic of discussion. Even though X-Men Origins: Wolverine royally bombed with everyone except maybe Hugh Jackman‘s mom, Ryan Reynolds will reprise the role of the Merc with the Mouth for the upcoming Deadpool solo feature. That part of casting the upcoming X-Men spin-off film was more or less a forgone conclusion, but who might play Deadpool’s leading lady in the film, that is a more complicated question. Sources say that the production has it narrowed down to six potentials, including a couple of choice names that should be very familiar to genre fans.
