While filming is underway for Kick-Ass 2 we’ve been given glimpses of Mother Russia, Hit-Girl’s new ride, and now we get our first look at Donald Faison in his Dr. Gravity gear plus Clark Duke as Battle-Guy and Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Kick-Ass. Check ’em all out in the gallery below.
You may have noticed we also get a glimpse of Remembering Tommy, a husband and wife team fighting crime in memory of their kidnapped son, and Insect Man without his mask. We’re also awaiting our first look at Jim Carrey in costume as Colonel Stars. But all in all I have to say the movie costumes look pretty faithful to the comics. Remembering Tommy is a little more low key, but otherwise they all look smashing. What do you guys think? Who are you most excited to see in Kick-Ass 2?
Kick-Ass 2 is slated to release on June 28, 2013.
The news about Kick-Ass 2 has been trickling in but with every new bit it seems the sequel to 2010’s Kick-Ass is becoming more of a reality. And had you asked me a week ago if I was excited I would have maybe expressed interest, but I wouldn’t have been pumped. Ask me now, after I finally caught up and read Mark Millar‘s sequel? Uh, yes, I can’t wait for this! Not because Kick-Ass 2 is better than Kick-Ass, ’cause I’m not sure it is, but it’s easily more ambitious and that alone will make for an interesting flick. And really, who doesn’t one more of Chloe Moretz calling out dudes as worthless cunts
Deadline is reporting Donald Faison – you may remember him from Scrubs or Clueless – could join the cast as one of the many, many super hero newcomers joining Kick-Ass (Aaron Johnson) and Hit Girl. In fact, there’s a shit ton of new heroes in Kick-Ass 2: Colonel Stars, Lieutenant Stripes, Battle-Guy, Moon-Bird, The Enforcer, Ass Kicker, Remembering Tommy, Insect-Man, Rocket-Man, Night-Bitch, The All-seeing Eye, and Dr. Gravity for whom Faison is being considered.
Dr. Gravity is a physics professor at Columbia who creates a gravity pole that can alter the affect of gravity on anyone or anything. Yeah, not really. He’s actually an undergraduate English major with a baseball bat covered in tin foil, but we all know it’s the back story that really counts when developing your super hero alter ego. Personally, I’d like Faison in the role and wouldn’t mind if they went for him. Hey, it’s better than John Lequizamo joining the cast which is, unfortunately, really happening.
What are your thoughts on Kick-Ass 2? Have you read the comic? It’s far more intense, graphic, and brutal, if you can believe it, and I’ll be interested to see how closely they stick to the comic. As of now it seems they’re shooting for a 2013 release date, if their Facebook page can be believed.
