Dragon Con 2014

Every year Dragon Con goes by like a Japanese bullet train on acid, you check in at the hotel and before you can blink it’s all over and you’re packing your suitcase and checking out to get back to the real world. Another thing that Dragon Con Cosplayers do every year after is scour the Internet for pictures of their cosplay and wait to see if they made it into one of Beat Down Boogie‘s magical Dragon Con Cosplay videos. Well, wait no longer, the first set of Beat Down Boogie videos have hit the Internet. (more…)

We’re back with another batch of Dragon Con 2014 Cosplay pictures and videos. There was so much there to see that if we’d tried to put it in one post it might have overloaded and shut the site down! This time up we’ve got a Cosplay gallery, a great musical cosplay video, and more Deadpools than you can shake a stick at!

The-New-Dragon-Con-LogoSo big it had to be cut up into smaller chunks so you wouldn’t be overwhelmed with Cosplay madness, here’s the second portion of NerdBastards Dragon Con 2014 Cosplay coverage. This year’s Dragon Con went by in a flash, it felt like we’d just checked in and suddenly after an avalanche of Cosplay, cocktails, and cavorting the whole thing was over and we were packing up the car to return to reality. There was so much great Cosplay this year, but that’s to be expected at Dragon Con. We’ve got a gallery of what we saw this year along with the official Dragon Con TV coverage of the Parade on Saturday morning.

Let’s start with a look at what one would have seen if you just wandered the halls of the host hotels. These 400 plus pictures are just a sample, it’s almost too much for the senses to take in. If it was nerdy, geeky, and had a fandom, it was represented in cosplay at some point in the convention. One of my quirky favorites was the Chicken Lady from The Kids in the Hall. She had us in stitches as she squawked and tried to pick up the guys walking by. (more…)

Ms. Marvel aka Captain Marvel aka Carol Danvers is an uber badass in the Marvel Comics continuum. And female fans have been dying to see her on screen because it’s awesome when someone who “looks like you” is a superhero. She’s just a powerhouse of cool and gets respect for it, making her a prime character for male fans to want to see also. In the comics and cartoons, her background is tightly connected to the space traveling history of ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy.’ So much so that most of us expected her to be introduced in the well-received summer blockbuster. But she wasn’t, leaving the thirsty still parched, with empty cups outstretched in anticipation. With the announcement of ‘GOTG2,’ there was hope for another chance at her debut. And director James Gunn recently addressed that very topic. (more…)

One of the biggest perks of this Nerd Bastards gig is attending local conventions and meeting all the guests and talking with fellow fans. Living in Atlanta means that one of the biggest conventions I attend every year is Dragon*Con. That wonderful four-day weekend of endless panels, cosplay, parties, and all the nerdy things one could imagine would fit into just about the entire downtown of Atlanta. While getting ready for this years Dragon Con I was given the opportunity to talk with Mike Resnick, a multiple Hugo award-winning science fiction author and one of my personal favorites when it comes to reading scifi.
