Earlier this week we reported Emma Stone, the fabulous red head whose turning up in dozens of movies nowadays, was offered the role of zombie-slaying Elizabeth Bennet in Craig Gillespie‘s Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. Well, guess what? She’s turned it down. Apparently the Zombieland star doesn’t want to be typecast as a kicker of undead ass.
According to Deadline the offer never even made it to the negotiations stage, so Miss Stone probably wasn’t even interested in the 19 century period piece with zombies. Here’s hoping they get this role cast soon, PPZ has been hovering around in pre-production hell for some time now. It’s a bit of a shame because I thought Stone would have been perfect. Then again, I thought the same about Natalie Portman. Who would you like to see get cast as the zombie killing heroine?
Word has it that Emma Stone, who will be playing Gwen Stacy in the reboot of the Spider-Man films, has been offered the role of Elizabeth Bennet in Lionsgate’s Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. It’s not a bad casting choice; she’s done well in her past films, Easy A and Superbad — and she has zombie slaying experience from Zombieland.
I personally haven’t read Pride and Prejudice and Zombies albeit having read the original Austen book. I’m too lazy to basically read it again, although I do wish that Pride and Prejudice and Zombies had been published before I read the snore that is Pride and Prejudice (without zombies). The essential premise is that it’s an old-timey love story… WITH ZOMBIES.
The offer hasn’t been confirmed as of yet, so it is not official that Emma Stone will be taking up the role of Elizabeth Bennet.
