Whatever else you might say about the movie, Suicide Squad – for better or worse – definitely had a distinct look. The bubblegum splashes of colour dance across a grim background of crime and depravity creating a juxtaposition that has definitely captured the world’s attention. As well as standing out from the other films released at the time, it also had enough of a visual personality to be fairly distinctive when surrounded by the other superhero movies in the limelight round about now. With less than a month before its release, everyone’s catching the fever for Warner Bros’ Suicide Squad film. Recently we have been flooded with very creative videos showing off each of the upcoming “heroes” as well as their abilities. As a result of the marketing, interest in this film is at an all time high. Box office tracking for the film is predicting a $125 million opening weekend, making it on track to have the biggest August opening ever, besting even Guardians of the Galaxy. Like Guardians of the Galaxy, Suicide Squad promises to be a very fun film where the rogues end of saving the day.
As if The Hulk being involved in the film didn’t make it explosive enough, rumors have also been circling that Valkrie could be joining the cast of Thor: Ragnarok. This would be her debut role on the big screen, and the rumor is somewhat backed by Marvel having said that they’re “looking to cast some great women in this movie.” There are no shortage of female villains in the Thor-niverse, and Lainey Gossip is reporting that Marvel Studios will be utilizing this fact by including a major female villain in the film. Let’s be brutally honest, neither of the Thor movies made so far have exactly been barn burners. While Iron Man 1 and 3 made their marks, and Captain America: The Winter Soldier was a near universally-acclaimed film, neither Thor nor Thor: The Dark World have caused fans to walk out of the theater saying that they needed more of the God of Thunder right there and then. So maybe what Thor really needs is to shake things up for part three, and while many would loath to say it, maybe if Odin-son went darker, it might get some more attention. As fate would have it, that’s just what they’re saying about the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok. (more…)
We’ve seen a lot of pictures coming out of David Ayers‘ Suicide Squad set in Toronto, but we’ve been pretty sure what we’ve been seeing each time.
