That Bryan Singer fella sure does love social media. Continuing the path that he has taken to connect directly with fans for quite some time now – and ramped up even further during the production of X-Men: Days of Future Past, the director of the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse has been giving his followers a fairly steady stream of cool photos and surprisingly-informative behind-the-scenes content. Today we received another tidbit from him – check this crazy photo of the whole world going sideways!
If you’re a fan of X-Men: Days of Future Past, then you likely got a kick out of Evan Peters’ portrayal of one of the fastest men alive, Quicksilver. Apparently, he charmed his way into audience’s hearts enough that 20th Century Fox is feeling like he needs more screen time. And while we could all expect him to make at least a cameo appearance in the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse, it seems as if he may be getting his own solo flick as well. Read on for the juicy details. We’re getting closer to the October 8th premiere date for FX‘s American Horror Story: Freak Show. What delightfully horrific stories will we see in this latest season? Michael Chiklis joins the cast this season that includes Jessica Lange, Kathy Bates, Evan Peters, Gadbourey Sidibe, Emma Roberts, Frances Conroy, Sarah Paulson, Angela Bassett, and Denis O’Hare. Click through to check out Kathy Bates in all her bearded glory! (more…)
With the release of Guardians of the Galaxy’s first trailer last week, we kinda forgot all about (briefly) one of the other superhero movies coming out this summer: X-Men: Days of Future Past. A French website aims to change that with a bunch of new shots from the film, including a snap of Quicksilver played by Evan Peters. That’s no big deal, right? But there are bigger questions that a couple of the photos raise, like the sight of a certain girl with Quicksilver… You know who we’re talking about. (more…)
Bryan Singer‘s X-Men “inbetweenquel”, Days of Future Past, promises to be the epitome of X-Men films, bridging the various generations of X-Men and spring boarding the franchise into the future. That is, if it doesn’t fall prey to the problems that have plagued many an X-Men movie (too many mutants, confusing plot lines, little to no character development, TOO MANY MUTANTS). Much will have to wait for the film’s release, but if you’re looking to get judgmental then by all means give us your opinion on Evan Peter‘s Quicksilver, recently revealed in this new photo, (more…)
[UPDATED! FOX vs Marvel, Round 1!] Evan Peters Cast as Quicksilver in ‘Days of Future Past’– Wait, What? Not ‘Avengers 2’?
All right, so earlier today we were fantasizing about a world where Saoirse Ronan would play Scarlet Witch in Avengers 2 and then, out of nowhere, Bryan Singer drops the bomb her brother, Quicksilver, is appearing in X-Men: Days of Future Past. AND, he’s already been cast! Say hello to Evan Peters, DOFP‘s Quicksilver.
The proof is in the tweet, as they say. I don’t know, is that a thing we say? It is now.
Of course, the big question I’m sure you’ve already asked yourself out loud is: how does this affect Quicksilver’s inclusion in Avengers 2? It’s a complicated issue to say the least. When Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver were first rumored as appearing in Avengers 2 the fact they’re technically X-Men, or at least tied to the X-Men universe by being Magneto’s children, was an often repeated reason why they couldn’t be included Marvel‘s Avenger films. See, FOX holds the film rights to the X-Men, just as Sony has Spider-Man. Soo… is Peter’s Quicksilver for Marvel as well? Will they have to go and cast their own guy? Won’t two Quicksilvers make things messy and complicated? Yes, yes it will.
What if this is a new age of cooperation between the studios and their Marvel characters? Yeah, I think that’s unlikely. Could be Singer and FOX just beat Joss Whedon and Marvel to the punch. Honestly, I’m not really sure what this means. And is that #Avengers hashtag a dig at Marvel? Or am I reading too much into it?
We’ll keep you posted as soon as we learn anything new about this confusing development.

UPDATE! Hitfix is reporting this is only the beginning of major showdown between FOX and Marvel. Here’s how they explain it,
This is not a situation where the two different companies are working together to try and create a sense of a larger shared world. In fact, if either of them could get the other to back off, they would. The thing is, Bryan Singer has designed a sequence that he feels only works with Quicksilver, and Joss Whedon feels that there is a pressing reason for Quicksilver to show up in “The Avengers 2,” and so what we’re going to see is a legally-negotiated stand-off in which we’ll get two totally different versions of one character.
With DOFP filming first it’s likely Singer will win this grudge match. Marvel’s already limited in how they use the Maximoff twins because they’re not allowed to refer to them as “mutants” or as Magneto’s children due to contract restrictions. But the word is Whedon and Marvel have big plans for both Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver, so, they must have already been aware of these difficulties and planned a way around them, right? This whole situation is weird, that’s for sure. And really, why the hell is it Quicksilver who starts the fire fight between the two studios? Aren’t there already enough mutants in DOFP? Aren’t there other Marvel characters who’d work even better in Avengers 2?
Whose side are you on?
American Horror Story: Asylum is set to premiere on October 17 on FX. Which, for me, is flippin’ fantastic. Mrs Nerd Bastards and I just started watching the first season on DVD. We love it, by the way. Most fucked up show we’ve seen on TV. Ghosts, gimps, sexual perversions and fantastic acting (Jessica Lang is amazing). Anyway, while we’re finishing up the season, the rest of you might like to know you can watch the first 5 minutes of the second season.
Mrs. NB and I have a few eps. left, so we dunno how it ends. I have wondered, though, how they could do a second season. What more could they do with it? I mean, how many more dead people can they keep introducing. Well, I’ve just been served a can of “shut the hell up” because, creator Ryan Murphy started basically from scratch for the second season. New cast members include Adam Levine, Jenna Dewan Tatum, James Cromwell, Joseph Fiennes, Lizzie Brocheré, Chloë Sevigny, Chris Zylka, Franka Potente, and Clea Duvall. Jessica Lange, Zachary Quinto, Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson, Lily Rabe, and Frances Conroy are all returning, but each will play different characters than they did in the first season. I dunno how all that’s going to work out, but I’m certainly curious.
The clip shows Levine and Dewan Tatum as newlyweds on their honeymoon taking a tour of haunted sites. Watch it below:
