Being a nerd is hard work. You burn a lot of calories caring about things so passionately, following them intently and debating them obstinately. It’s important to replenish yourself with some sweet, sweet sustenance before you Hulk-out on your friends and loved ones over whether or not that fall should have killed Rhodey. When the time comes to recharge your batteries, where better than someplace designed specifically with nerds in mind? Sometimes it’s just nice to be among your own people. This article explores the best places in the world to enjoy some nerd-dom while you eat, with everything from an eatery with an actual TARDIS to a bar designed by H.R. Giger himself. It’s kinda like Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, except that you won’t have to put up with the guy with the least right to pretentiousness pretentiously pronouncing his last name. So shut the front door and buckle up, because this gangsta trip to Nerdy Flavortown is gonna be off the hook!

This time on The BastardCast, Jason and Jeremy discuss the world of the psychic and supernatural while also investigating the world of ghost dating. Also, the pain and gain of bad boys trying to throw an air conditioner at Michael Bay, crack addled mice, the mustache hall of fame, bacon and your bits, and President Terminator and Vice President Dennis Rodman. (more…)

While the flux-capacitor hasn’t been perfected, and we can’t help you fix any past holiday humbuggery, maybe we can help you get this holiday season off to a good start.

For the next 12 days (Dec 1st-12th), the staff of Nerd Bastards will be listing a few of their favorite nerdy things. Gadgets, doohickeys, thingamabobs and more – all sorts of  items that have been Nerd tested and Bastard approved.  Basically,  stuff you want, things you need, and everything you can’t have.

We hope you’ll  find some unique and nerdtastic gifts among our selections, and that they make their way under your tree, Menorah or Kwanzaa bush.

Hit the jump for Luke Gallagher’s list of Nerdful things. Check back tomorrow for Adam Donaldson’s list. To see archive of this feature, click HERE.

Keep your desk tidy and pristine by sticking all your junk into the Deadpool pencil holder. Non hardcore fans might not want to see Deadpool in this state. It is part of Gentle Giant’s line of Marvel desk accessories and it comes with two shuriken-shaped erasers and a soft plastic arrow fletching for a pencil cap.  Price: $88.99 [Entertainment Earth]

thanksgiving(Post by nerdbastards fan and #1 commenter Mark Poynter, a.k.a Mordrun)

It’s the Holidays, and first up is Thanksgiving! Thanksgiving means a lot of things to different people. There’s the food (I could tell you about a turkey one year that smoked up the entire house), the family (Your hipster brother and his vegan wife, your sister’s kids and her latest motorcycle riding, tattooed boyfriend, your aunt that loves to tell the story of the time she banged Walter Koenig, because you like that Star Wars stuff), the remembrance of things we are thankful for (No 3D for Batman 3). Thanksgiving is all about tradition. Why not slip a little Nerd Bastard tradition in there. Celebrate your Nerdiness by bringing your love of Sci-Fi to the food you love for Thanksgiving.

Check out the ideas below to Sci-Fi up your Thanksgiving Holiday.

Sometimes we nerds have to consume more than Coke and Taco Bell as we save the world from strangely electromagnetic villains and mean orcs. So what do we do to get the power-up? We bake. Cupcakes, no less. has posted pics and a how-to for the cupcakes she created to show off her stationery at a comic book shop. Naturally, Jenn wanted to go with a superhero theme, so she used fondant icing to create cupcakes bearing Phoenix, Captain America and Superman crests.

It seems cupcakes are spreading wider than syphilis these days, as the dear boyfriend and I even got into the act over the weekend. Our cupcakes were messier than Jenn’s and we didn’t use fondant, but gosh golly, we loved our 1upcakes just the same:

Have you baked something as a testament to your Mario Kart skills? Decorated cookies to look like the early 20th century weapons found in Red Dead Redemption? Tweet your pics to @nerdbastards with the hashtag #NBcakes, and we may feature them in a future post about sweet edible nerd art!

Gimme Some Of That Zombie Jerky!

Being a fat bastard (no relations to the movie character, even though I do have Scottish in me), I love me some beef jerky and to be honest, I wouldn’t mind trying some Zombie Jerky. From the folks from Harcos Lab, who made Zombie Blood Energy Potion, they’re bringing us some fine jerked zombie meat to the public. Coming in green, “Teriyucky” flavor, this jerky is packing 11 grams of protein.

Unlike the “Blue Zombie Jerky” from Japan, this form of Jerky looks edible since it doesn’t look like blue candy that’s suppose to be “juicy.” Any of ya’ll interested in trying this out or are ya gross out by the idea of eating  green meat? I’ve had green meat once before… it lead me to “live” in a bathroom for about 7 hours.

If you were presented with 100 cupcakes bearing nerdy icons, would you stand there and try to identify them all? I certainly would.

Flickr user Z Andrei shares photos from a party in which the hosts decorated 100 cupcakes with board, electronic and video game images. Obviously, the hosts put a huge effort into this, as the cupcakes boast well-done art from Simon, Donkey Kong, Candy Land, Mortal Kombat and more. Their guests must have had a blast identifying the games.

A larger image of the cupcakes is below. How many can you identify without help?
