gamers

While it may be the running joke about gamers, when new games come out, we can be a little forgetful about what’s really important in life. Everyone’s seen those meme’s about the poor girlfriend and her boyfriend who’s playing Fallout 4 and totally ignoring her. Those lucky enough to find a significant other that not only understands those tendencies, but helps us get past them, is one well worth holding onto. Imgur user is one of those lucky few, and he recently posted some pictures describing the fabulous Fallout 4 birthday gift his girlfriend put together for him. (more…)

18 years. That’s how long it took one player to retrieve the so-called “Impossible Coin” from an infamous level of Nintendo’s Super Mario 64. By comparison, it took them four years to build a prototype atomic bomb, and it took them 10 years to (allegedly) go to the moon, but to spend nearly two decades trying to collect one singular coin that may have been left in the game by mistake? Well that’s a level of dedication that’s not merely obsessive compulsive, but it puts obsessive compulsive in the rear-view mirror and keeps driving till it ends up somewhere completely unrecognizable. So how did this dedicated gamer finally do it? Read on. (more…)

Every day the internet produces an astounding amount of goodies and gems. Most hilarious, some amusing, but all worth at least a few seconds of your time. We here at Nerd Bastards try to bring you the best bits of news and nerdery the webz has to offer, with a bit of snark thrown in. But sometimes not everything makes the cut. Monday through Friday we’ll be bringing you our inbox leftovers, our forgotten bookmarks, the nerdy bits that simply slipped through the cracks. You can submit items to Nerdy Bits by emailing us at nerdybits@nerdbastards.com.

Clearly there’s some photoshop trickery involved, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t an excellent and unexpected cosplay of Izabel from Saga. Created by The Inkblog Blunder. [The Mary Sue]

Nathan Fillion has always been a proactive force for good in the world. If he isn’t flying the space lanes looking for work for his crew, he’s putting murders behind bars in between publishing mystery novels, or pounding villains senseless while singing catchy tunes. Nathan has now turned his couragous, unflinching, tireless efforts to the Gamer issue – Swamp Gas. All gamers have had the condition, most are not brave enough to tackle the issue publically, many just squirm on the couch or swivel chair from which they play their games.

Thank you Nathan. Thank you for making the world a better place.

Give me a P. Give me an A. Give me an X. What does that spell? PAX…you dyslexic sucka duck! YES, the much-anticipated, annual, nerdfest PAX East (a la Penny Arcade) in Boston came, went and totally took advantage of the prime real estate that is my body. I need a breath mint, deodorant and massage from a small Vietnamese woman with mighty – yet gentle- hands (and is up for expected happy ending). For those of you scratching your heads wondering what the hell is PAX East?! First, I’d like to slap you upside the head for being an ignorant douche-canoe. This is our culture. How do you not know about this?!?! OK, here’s a quick run-through: PAX East, is  like a smaller E3, but intended for consumers rather than developers. See, they get a bunch of video game hot shots to show off their hardware, software and um…in some cases hot chicks in tall boots

These boots were made for walkin' and that's just what they'll do, these boots are gonna walk all over you"

"These boots are made for walking, and that's just what they'll do, one of these days these boots are gonna walk all over you."

Then, they invite the public to hang out and fall in love with all kinds of the latest, greatest gear and games on (or about to enter) the video game scene. Attendees can play games, attend panel sessions about all kinds of cool stuff, see live music and even compete in video game tournaments! Exciting, right? YES! Especially if you like shiny bags of SWAG, the occasional hot chick in costume, new technology, and inspiring speeches.

So now you have a pretty solid idea of what goes on in general. What might not be entirely clear to you is the feeling of “home”. *cue the violin for sappy time* Let’s face it, we as gamers are strange and weird. We typically don’t mesh well with the world outside our own. The acceptance in ordinary society is growing quite rapidly, but how many people in your life truly appreciate and understand your pleasure, your obsession, your escape? While we’re predominantly having too much fun to care, wouldn’t it be nice to be embraced by a collective mutuality? After all, you know gamer friends are the perfect circle of people you always want to hang out with. Why not a sea of thousands, all singing to the tune of “Let’s Play”? Simply put, PAX is your haven. Your heaven. Your home.

Now, onto swamp ass, girls and games.

XBox Girls Strike Back!

XBox Girl

I am woman, hear me flame.

These are the girls of every little gamer boy’s nightmare. They’ll have him quivering in his overpriced skater shoes, which, ironically, have never touched the griptape of a board. Previously seen in their first video, XBox Girls Get Revenge from College Humor, the girls are back to teach a sad, pathetic boy the meaning of abuse. You should really watch their first vid before tuning in to the sequel, other-wise you might actually feel sorry for the twerp. Don’t worry, he had this coming.

These videos are most definitely NSFW as they contain many, many, many colorful metaphors. As a female gamer I identify with being tired of getting shit whenever we play online. I repeat the cry, “I am woman, hear me flame.” And then hopefully not get banned from my XBox account. I am woman, but I’m not be as brave as these badass chicas.

Roadhouse Video Game….why??

road_house

This thought comes from a little snippet buried in an article over at playboy and from Kotaku, who found it.  I will start with the fact that this movie was classic 80’s cheese, while good, it just reminds me too much of going out to eat with my parents and the stupid crap they would wear.  There are some good points about this possibly being a video game as mentioned over at Kotaku, but there are also a few bad points I would like to add.
