Hallmark

(article by nerdbastards contributor Adam A. Donaldson, @adamadonaldson)

Hallmark seems to be going all out, and all over, with this year’s offerings of Keepsake Ornaments. Gone are the days when the greeting card company’s licenses are limited to Star Trek and Star Wars, for this year’s collectibles include ones that take inspiration from Harry Potter, A Christmas Story, Up, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, Indiana Jones, Green Lantern, Cars, and of course, Star Trek and Star Wars.

It’s an expensive hobby, but play your cards right your Christmas Tree (or Non-Denominational Holiday Celebration Plant, for the less than religious among us) can be adorned with a re-creation of Han Solo’s showdown with Greedo, a Lego Darth Vader with light saber drawn, Shrek’s Puss N Boots in a hat-tipping pose, or maybe the iconic sign from the front of Cheers. The cool pick has to be the either the Nautilus model, the first Romulan Warbird model from the Original Series, or maybe the Mirror Universe Spock mind-melding with the Dr McCoy from Over Here.

However, it should be noted that only four out of the 32 some-odd ornaments being offered have anything to do with Christmas. Check out all the cool new fandom-related decorations, coming soon to Hallmark store near you as well as being available on the Hallmark website. They cost between $15 and $40 each. And remember, there’s only 165 shopping days till Christmas.

Check out the gallery with over 30 ornaments after the cut.

Wil Wheaton Presents Kirk Vs. Spock On An Ornament

WilWheatonPlaysWithToys-thumb-476x354-53715

All right, this may just only be Wil Wheaton at some random Hallmark store playing with an ornament but the fact that he recorded himself playing with a specific Star Trek Christmas ornament makes it special.

The “Amok” Star Trek will set you back $29 but I’m sure after watching this clip, you’ll probably want one seeing how Wil Wheaton endorses this and asks if this is the best Christmas ornament ever.
