Congratulations! You made it to the end of the year 2015. You’ve survived three years longer than the Mayans said that you would, and as your reward, you are treated to one Best or Worst of the Year list after the other. So welcome again to our annual compendium of the Top 10 Nerdy TV shows.
How was the year for sci-fi, fantasy, and horror fiction on TV? In a word, excellent. As you may be aware, we are living in an era of Peak TV, which makes the compilation for a list like this harder than ever seeing as how among the some 409 scripted series that premiered on the air this year, a great many of them fit our core audience. Depending on your point of view, this is either a gift from the gods, or you’re being tested by them to see how long you can go without breathing fresh air outside your home.
The top picks for this year’s best of nerdy TV include zombies (not those ones, the other ones), cannibals, speedsters, detectives, Nazis, vampires, battling artificial intelligences, and the biggest cast ever put together for a TV show in the history of ever. Shall we begin? (more…)
As you looked out over the audience you could see antlers poke up from several heads. Are they here for a deer appreciators meeting. Nope, these are the Fannibals. The completion of the third and final season of Hannibal made this Q&A appointment viewing for Hannibal fans at Fan Expo, a kind of epilogue to the dear departed series. When Mads Mikkelsen came out though, he was dressed down in a pair of jeans and had grown a beard. Not exactly the stylish serial killing cannibal we’ve come to know and love, but the charm was still there. (more…)
Here it is, folks. The final episode of Hannibal is here. ‘The Wrath of the Lamb’ shall wrap up the last three seasons of our favorite show and possibly be the last time we shall ever see Mads Mikkelsen playing the iconic role of Hannibal Lecter. Last week we saw The Great Red Dragon get more intense (under Hannibal’s handy guidance, of course) and Will Graham was gearing up for a final confrontation. This week has as lot of ground to cover, though Hannibal has rarely disappointed in the past. So where will all of the characters we’ve grown to know and love (and hate) end up when the curtain closes? Scroll on to find out. (more…)
The moment draws nearer and nearer – the final episode of Hannibal, season 3. Last week we were three to the countdown and after ‘The Number of the Beast is 666…” we have but one left. So far, we have Will and Dolarhyde playing a deadly game, with Will’s family becoming one of The Great Red Dragon’s targets. This was all thanks to Hannibal, of course, as he’s been feeding Dolarhyde information and steering him toward the goal of leaving Will alone and broken. The good doctor’s actions did not, however, come without repercussions. Alana Bloom is damned and determined to make his life a living hell and she’s one step closer to doing so. So where will the confrontation between Hannibal, Will, Dolarhyde, Alana and everyone else at the FBI lead this week? Scroll on to discover what twists and turns Hannibal has in store for us this time around. (more…)
Last week on Hannibal, the hunt for The Tooth Fairy became more intense. After devouring the original Red Dragon artwork, Dolarhyde is almost caught by Will Graham. They manage to look each other in the eye before Will’s prey escapes, however, so we can expect more to unfold very soon. In the meanwhile, Hannibal was keeping contact with the Dragon and coaching him with his newfound serial killer instincts. And the relationship between Dolarhyde and Reba deepened, he seeing her as his Woman Clothed in Sun. Things promise to heat up this episode, but in what ways? Read on for a recap and review of ‘…And the Beast from the Sea’. (more…)
Last week on Hannibal, Will finally turned to Hannibal as an advisor in his hunt for The Tooth Fairy. And while everyone around Will wanted to use him for their own personal gain, in one way or another, the good doctor actually seemed to be on Will’s side. The Red Dragon was still roaming free and murdering folks and even managed to find a new friend in the form of a blind photo tech, Reba. Will this week bring Will and the FBI closer to finding out Dolarhyde’s identity? How much deeper will Will have to sink into the mind of his enemy before he goes mad? And what’s really going on inside Hannibal’s head? This week’s episode, ‘And the Woman Clothed with the Sun…’ answers a few of these questions. (more…)
Last week on Hannibal, we finally witnessed the arrival of The Great Red Dragon – a new serial killer for Will Graham and his crew to hunt down. Unfortunately for Will, he didn’t really want to get involved in the FBI’s antics anymore, but a visit from Jack Crawford convinced him that he could do some good. And while all this was taking place in the outside world, Hannibal, safely (?) locked away, was mentally sparring with his captors and awaiting the arrival of his old friend. This week, Will finally pays a visit to Doctor Lecter. Will the old bromance reunite with a fury? Or is Will still as cold as ever to his “friend”? ‘And the Woman Clothed with Sun…’ answers a few questions and raises a few more. (more…)
Last week’s episode of Hannibal ended on a rather shocking note. After escaping from the clutches of Mason Verger (and sending him to an unsavory fate), Will and Hannibal had what seemed to be one last talk. Will was, in effect, breaking up with the doctor; swearing off ever pursuing him. Hannibal was home free, but he decided to do something unusual – he gave himself up to the FBI. Whether this ploy was to ensure that Hannibal was always close to his “friend” or whether the doctor may be seeking some sort of revenge for being rejected, we do not know. All we know is that this week ‘The Great Red Dragon’ will introduce one of the Hannibal mythos’ most infamous of serial killers. And that Will will most certainly have to turn to his friend/nemesis in order to catch his prey. (more…)
So things are getting a bit tense on Hannibal as of late. While Will and Hannibal finally met up to renew their strange and psychotic friendship, the real intent here was to see who would kill who first. Will thought he may have had the jump on Hannibal, but Chiyo stopped the assassination attempt with a bullet. And when Will came to, he was Hannibal’s dinner guest. Jack tried to save the day, but his conflict with the good doctor didn’t turn out to be as successful as it was the first time. In the end, they both looked like they might end up on the menu. Unfortunately for Hannibal (and likely everyone else), Mason Verger finally found a way to get to his enemy. And now everybody looks to be completely fucked. How will Hannibal and his companions escape from certain doom? Scroll on to find the answer to this and many other questions. (more…)
Last week’s episode of Hannibal was truly a work of art. Viewers received a healthy dose of all the things that they love about the show. We saw Hannibal taking down a new victim in the form of Inspector Pazzi. We also saw Hannibal being bested by Jack Crawford, a former victim of the doctor’s viciousness. And in the meanwhile, the other characters were moving about like pieces on a chess board, all of them trying to checkmate Hannibal and claim the king of cannibals as their prize. So what does this week’s ‘Dolce’ have to offer? Read on to find out… (more…)
