Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey

It’s official! The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios Hollywood has an official opening date! There are already Wizarding Worlds at Universal Studios in Orlando and Japan, but now the magic is being brought to the West Coast. Fans of the J.K. Rowling novels have been eagerly anticipating the opening of the attraction for almost five years. Until today, no one was quite sure how long that wait would be, as Universal officials have all remained very tight-lipped about the project. After all, everyone knows that Golden Snitches get Golden Stitches. We’re sorry. We don’t even know what that means. Anyway, Universal released a video to announcing the opening date with special guest star, Luna Lovegood actress Evanna Lynch, delivering the news. Let’s watch the video below now!

As most people in the US already know, there is a Harry Potter Theme Park being built currently at the Universal Studios in Orlando, FL.  From the footage that has been seen so far, it is more than obvious that the park is going to be breathtaking for anyone who considers themselves a fan of the series.  (Books or movies, though I don’t hold much respect for the movie only fans.  Pick up a damn book!)  But yesterday there was released a video that gives you a bit more of a peak inside what the park will look like, specifically one of the rides you can take.  Video after the jump:

Are your wands stiffed in anticipation of Universal Studios: The Wizarding World of Harry Potter? Well then take gander like Ollivander (sorry, it rymes) at the first official photo of Hogwarts Castle. Although it’s still very much a work in progress, the magnificence of Hogwarts Castle has taken shape above Hogsmeade in Universal Studios: Orlando latest attraction. We do not know what the precise scale is, defiantly not 1:1 but regardless the structure is massive. The wizarding school replica will house a new state-of-the-art attraction – Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey – that uses ground-breaking technology to bring magic, characters and stories of Harry Potter to life in way never before experinced. Outside of the Castle is where the world of Harry Potter is fully realized. The highly anticipated land will also feature attractions, shops and signature eating establishments of the Potter-verse (basically a giant Harry Potter themed mall). You can drink Butter Beer from 3 Broomsticks, buy extendable ears at Zonko’s, have an interactive wand experience at Ollivanders, send a certified Hogsmeade postmarked letter from the OWL post and take home a number of magical creatures and merchandise from Filch’s Emporium of Confiscated Goods. Whether your a Harry Potter fan or not this is some seriously impressive shit.  The park is set to open sometime in the Spring of 2010.  For more info you can check out the full press release after the jump.
