Thor: Ragnarok‘s production is heating up with some interesting casting news, Oscar winner Cate Blanchett (Blue Jasmine, LOTR) is said to be in talks to join the Thor: Ragnarok cast. She’s joining an already talent heavy cast that includes Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Mark Ruffalo, Jamie Alexander and is likely to also include Idris Elba, Natalie Portman, and Sir Anthony Hopkins. What role might the ever-so-talented Blanchett be up for? (more…)

As if The Hulk being involved in the film didn’t make it explosive enough, rumors have also been circling that Valkrie could be joining the cast of Thor: Ragnarok. This would be her debut role on the big screen, and the rumor is somewhat backed by Marvel having said that they’re “looking to cast some great women in this movie.”   There are no shortage of female villains in the Thor-niverse, and Lainey Gossip is reporting that Marvel Studios will be utilizing this fact by including a major female villain in the film.  Read on for what the site had to say. Thor II: The Dark World, begins production and principal shooting later this month so we can expect some last minute casting news as things firm up and contracts are signed.

It’s now confirmed that actress Alice Krige has landed a small role (Her words) in the Alan Taylor-directed film. Krige also said that she may not be recognizable in the film, meaning some impressive makeup or prosthetics, much like her role as the “Borg Queen” in Star Trek: First Contact and the Star Trek: Voyager series.

Many people are thinking that with Christopher Eccleston confirmed as Malekith the Accursed, the ruler of Svartalfheim, that Alice Krige would be playing Alflyse, the queen of the Dark Elves and the Svartalfheim realm. Below is a picture, doesn’t seem like there would be much makeup involved that would make Krige unrecognizable does it?

After checking out the available pictures of Alflyse on the Internet, this NerdBastard would like to throw out another character that might make an appearance in the film, Death. Remember the Thanos appearance at the end of The Avengers? Perhaps Krige might play the purple robed Death that Thanos is in love with.

Although most of the time Death has a skull face as shown in the picture below from the Death of Captain Marvel Graphic novel.

Then again there is the role of Hela, the Asgardian Goddess of death. With Thor traveling the Nine Realms in Thor II: The Dark World there is a distinct possibility that he will run into Hela at one point or another.

What do you think? Is there another character that might fit the bill?

Thor: The Dark World stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Anthony Hopkins, Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, Christopher Eccleston, Jaimie Alexander, Zachary Levi, Tadanobu Asano, Stellan Skarsgard and Ray Stevenson and is set for release on November 8, 2013.
