O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay! Fans of Tim Burton‘s 2010 film Alice in Wonderland should be chortling in their joy at all the news coming about the sequel, Alice Through the Looking Glass. Based off of Lewis Carroll‘s Through the Looking-Glass, which was itself a sequel to his earlier Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, Alice Through the Looking Glass promises to deliver even more madcap antics and zany characters than its predecessor. Returning for more adventures in Wonderland are Mia Wasikowska, Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Anne Hathaway, Stephen Fry, Michael Sheen, and Alan Rickman, in what would prove to be his final role. Watch now below as Walt Disney Pictures has just released a new TV spot for the film!

If Harry Potter fans were to guess as to the first actors from the beloved franchise that would be posing for some risqué photos, Zoe Wanamaker (Madam Hooch) may not have been at the top of that list.  However, Wanamaker is in fact one of the several actresses that have Harry Potter on their resume who recently took part in a photo shoot to raise awareness of the damage humans are causing to the oceans and once the clothes came off, the shoot got a bit…fishy. Tim and Batman

Tim Burton has been doing the promotion circuit for his new film Big Eyes – which, surprisingly, doesn’t star a dressed up idiosyncratic-characteristic Johhny Depp, or a gothic looking Helena Bonham Carter –  which is due to be released on Christmas day. Talking about everything from Beetlejuice 2 being closer than ever going into production, to how he has missed working with Michael Keaton, and now he has been talking about the superhero comic book genre and how much it has changed in the last 20 years. Burton, who isn’t usually one for too much controversy, has hit out with a belter of an opinion which will no doubt be splitting comic book fans and film fans down the middle. (more…)

It didn’t take long for Disney to follow-up their live action Cinderella teaser the other day with the full trailer. There’s a lot of acting talent involved in this latest incarnation that includes Lily James as Ella, Cate Blanchett as the evil Step Mother, Richard Madden as the Prince, and Helena Bonham Carter as her Fairy God Mother. How do you think this will do at the box office? (more…)

While Tim Burton will, sadly, not be returning to helm the sequel to his 2010 Alice in Wonderland adaptation, according to Variety: Helena Bonham Carter is in negotiations to reprise her role as The Red Queen.  Johnny Depp will also return as The Mad Hatter–making this possibly the only time Carter and Depp have been in a movie together without Tim Burton directing.  (more…)

The list of talented thespians with accents continues to grow for Kenneth Branagh‘s new take on Cinderella as Hayley Atwell has joined the company. The artist formally (and futurely) known as Captain America’s Peggy Carter, will join Cate Blanchett, Helena Bonham CarterStellan Skarsgård, Sophie McShera, Holliday Grainger, Richard Madden (Game of Thrones), and Lily James.

So who will she play? Read the headline again!

But seriously, it was Atwell herself who broke the news of her new role in Harper’s Bazaar. “I am about to start filming Kenneth Branagh’s new movie, Cinderella, playing Cinderella’s biological mother at the beginning of the story, the embodiment of goodness and maternal love,” she wrote.

The new Cinderella will begin shooting this fall for a spring 2015 release date. James will play the title character with McShera and Grainger playing the wicked stepsisters, Blanchett playing the wicked stepmother, Madden as Prince Charming, and Carter as the Fairy Godmother.

As for Atwell, nerd fans will be able to see her next as Peggy Carter in the short film of the same name to be included with the Iron Man 3 Blu-ray, and in a cameo in the sequel Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Cinderella is scheduled for release on March 13, 2015.

Choosing to use her magic for good rather than evil, The Hollywood Reporter is, uh, reporting Helena Bonham Carter is joining Disney‘s and Kenneth Branagh‘s live-action Cinderella. I’ve been following the development of this fairy tale feature for some time and it’s good to see how nicely this cast is shaping up. Bonham Carter will be fairy godmothering Lily James‘s Cinderella, whose evil step-sisters are to played by Sophie McShera (Downton Abbey)and Holliday Granger (The Borgias). Cate Blanchet has been long attached as the wicked stepmother and only recently we learned Game of ThronesRichard Madden will play the prince. Huh? Wonder what freed up his schedule?

Shooting is expected to begin in London in the fall. The role of The Fairy Godmother will be larger than it was in Disney’s animated classic as Bonham Carter will be, “disguised as an old beggar who watches over Cinderella before revealing herself as the magical being she truly is.” Bonham Carter as an old beggar woman?! Why, I never! Obviously, this isn’t Bonham Carter’s first Disney gig. She played the Red Queen in 2010’s Alice in Wonderland, but here’s hoping this flick proves to be better. And her head not so freakishly large.

Are you at all excited for Disney’s Cinderella? What of Bonham Carter as The Fairy Godmother?

A full trailer for the long troubled Lone Ranger reboot should be released soon. Till then Walt Disney Pictures has decided to release a small taste of whats to come via ABC. Good Morning America had the honor of being the first morning chat/news show to awkwardly joke about Johnny Depp wearing a bird for a hat plus give us the low down on the mask that Armie Hammer wears as the titular character. Did you know that it was felt on the old TV show but now leather for the movie?

I am off to go update Wikipedia, while I do that you enjoy the clip after the jump. Fair warning, it is straight from ABC so stop it after a minute lest you be exposed to the latest gossip about Taylor Swift and Harry Styles. Looks like she is going to Yoko Ono the band One Direction. I’ll update that wiki too.

We really need to start calling Tuesday “Trailer Tuesday”; it’s always the best time to release a trailer you’ve seen a hundred times… just with a half second of new footage added each month.

Universal Pictures has released the third trailer to Mirror Mirror Snow White and the Huntsman. In a post-Twilight Saga feature, Kristen Stewart plays the revamped fairy tale character of Snow White as she battles the evil (but more sexually appealing) evil queen, played by Charlize Theron. Trained in the art of war by the Huntsman, (Chris Hemsworth), the two form an alliance in hopes of changing the kingdom and defeating the damn sexy tyrannic ruler.

Expect to see Snow White and the Huntsman in theaters on June 1, 2012.

The newest trailer from the 931764th Tim Burton/Johnny Depp collaboration, Dark Shadows, was also released.  Based on the ABC series of the same name from the mid 60’s and starring fellow actors Michelle Pfeiffer, Helena Bonham Carter, Eva Green, Jackie Earle Haley, Jonny Lee Miller, Chloë Grace Moretz and Bella Heathcote, the film takes a more comedic take than the television series did.

Dark Shadows hits theaters May 11, 2012.  Expect it to be the bigger hit between the two films; it’s going to be riding that weird vampire fangirl wave sweeping the country for the last few years.  (Yes, KStew was involved in Twilight, but the creaming happens for everybody in the series but for her.  So… yeah.)
