Apparently the following information is a Comic Book Movie exclusive, as they have received the names of some potential actors for the role of Drax The Destroyer in the upcoming Marvel film, Guardians of the Galaxy, with James Gunn in the driver’s seat. This is all thanks to a source that they have that is “very close to production”, who shared with the site the names of three potentials for the role of Drax as well as one person who is “still high on” for the role of Peter Quill.
The potentials that are lined up are former WWE star Dave Bautista, Brian Patrick Wade from Generation Kill and The Old Spice Guy, Isaiah Mustafa. According to the source, they’re all still in negotiations with Marvel at the present time. To be honest, I don’t know if I could take The Old Spice Guy seriously.
For those of you who aren’t fully aware of the backstory behind Drax, he started off as your average human dude named Arthur Douglas whose family was killed by Thanos. Kronos then took Arthur’s soul and put it in a brand new, souped up body so that he could have at it with Thanos. And there we have Drax the Destroyer. The movie will be “updating” this backstory, though, and Hollywood-izing it so that’ll be interesting to see.
There has been a lot of speculation about who will be playing Peter Quill. The source claims that Peter Krasinski is up there in the running, but that doesn’t necessarily mean anything is set in stone just yet.
What do you think about these potential casting choices? Who would you like to be on the big screen playing these characters?
In a recent podcast, Rampage Jackson was asked about what he thought about playing Luke Cage in a Marvel movie. Rampage responded by saying; “It’s funny you should ask that, I had a meeting with Marvel . . . I would love to play Luke Cage, I think I would make a great Luke Cage.”
The entire podcast video is below and Jackson is a good interview. I find myself wondering how Isaiah Mustafa – (The Old Spice Guy) – would react to this turn of events after his very public Internet pitch to land the roll of Luke Cage if a movie was made. They both have the look but I thin Rampage has the street look that Cage’s character is famous for. I would say “Let two men enter one man leave” decide it, but that would most likely result in Rampage bruising his knuckles without even working up a decent sweat. Rampage didn’t do a horrible job as B.A. Barracus in The A-Team, so I don’t think the comparaacting skills of these two will decide it.What do you think of the choice between the two? Is there another person out there more deserving of the role?
Isaiah Mustafa, best known as the of Old Spice guy (or rather the guy all other guys should smell like) has made it known (the guy won’t shut up about it) that he’s interested in playing the role of Marvel’s “Hero For Hire” Luke Cage, a.k.a Power Man.
Furthering the campaign he, along with the team behind Marvel’s “What The!?” videos decided to have some fun and prove, by shooting the footage below that, yes, he is the one and only Luke Cage.
The Hero for Hire pays a friendly visit to the home of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes–but what do M.O.D.O.K., Sugar Man and Beta Ray Bill have planned? Or perhaps the better question: What does Luke Cage have in store for them?
Find out in the latest Marvel Super Heroes: What The–?! which we just had to call “The Hero Your Hero Could Smell Like”!
Great video, funny and uber nerdy, but it was the shot of Deadpool in the elevator that did it for me.
Isaiah Mustafa, best known as the of Old Spice guy (or rather the guy all other guys should smell like) is rather interested in playing the role of Marvel‘s “Hero For Hire” Luke Cage, Power Man.
Last month on G4 he had this to say:
“I will say this…please, get this thing going. I want to be Luke Cage, OK ! I want to be Luke Cage! You have no idea, I mean really, yes. I made a dream board of it and put my face on the comic. I said I want to be Luke Cage one day.”
Since then his determination has been vigilant. To the extent that he has started a Facebook campaign and hired some photographer/photoshop geeks turn him into the character to prove what a good choice he is for the role (pictured above).
Ok, I could see this guy as Luke Cage. He’s dreamy (what? Can’t a straight guy comment on another mans sexiness?), has the physique as well as great presence.
Can he act well enough to carry a film? Who knows. But he looks the part and has a fan following based entirely on a series of deodorant commercials.
