Jamie King

Playboy Playmate Crystal McCahill posted a picture of her upcoming character poster for her role as one of the “Girls of Old Town” in Frank Miller‘s Sin City: A Dame To Kill For. Based on the comic created by Miller the film stars Rosario Dawson, Mickey Rourke, Jessica Alba, Jamie King who are reprising their Sin City (2005) roles in the film with the addition of Clive Owen as “Dwight McCarthy” and Jamie Chung and Dennis Haysbert who are taking over the roles played by Devon Aoki and Michael Clarke Duncan.

The plot for Sin City 2 is comprised of the stories A Dame To Kill For, Just Another Saturday Night, and a new one Frank Miller wrote called The Long, Bad Night, that centers on Alba‘s character Nancy Callahan. She’ll be the connectting factor between the two films.

The movie is set to hit theater screens on October 4th, 2013. Just wait until the actual marketing team gets going, we’re sure to see lots more character and production set material then.

Production is finally underway for the long awaited sequel to Robert Rodriguez/Frank Miller‘s Sin City

Sin City: A Dame To Kill For, began filming on Monday with two actresses familiar with the genre. Jaime King is returning for the sequel, playing the sister of her character from the first movie, and Jamie Chung is playing the role Devon Aoki had in the 2005 original.

The Hollywood Reporter broke the news of both actresses joining the cast, which already includes returning actors like Mickey Rourke, Jessica Alba and Rosario Dawson. Rourke’s character, Marv, was killed in the original film, but this sequel precedes he’s “shocking” execution.

The only missing pieces we know of so far, are the major roles of Ava and Dwight. As noted in the Hollywood Reporter’s article, Angelina Jolie‘s role will now have to be recast as she is not is likely to appear and the same goes for Clive Owen. His role as the red sneakered bad body in the 2005 original will most likely be recast; seeing as how Sin City 2 we’ll see Dwight prior to the facial reconstruction we all saw in Sin City.

So, not only is production under way without a complete cast,  Sin City: A Dame to Kill For is set for a October 2013 release. That gives Rodriguez less then a year to shoot and edit the entire movie. That’s a tall order. Especially, when you consider the fact, that  he just wrapped Machete 2 and has to oversee it’s post production.

I for one, am I little concerned the sequel won’t get the care it deserves. We’ve waited 7 years for this, and it’s feeling rushed. Not to mention the lack of returning actors. You can already tell it just won’t be the same

We touched on this briefly in Nerdy Bits earlier today, but since then Stand Up To Cancer and Lucasfilm have released a video celebrating their new collaboration. In it some Star Wars fans, who also happen to be celebrities, reenact famous scenes from the original trilogy to raise awareness for the new charitable venture.

Aziz Ansari, Emma Stone, Andy Samberg, Ed Helms, Seth Rogen, Zach Galifianakis, Ken Jeong, Jamie King and Samuel L. Jackson all take part is this amusing video. I really wanted this to be outstanding and hilarious, but it just didn’t quite deliver, it’s worth a watch though. Whether it’s funny or not doesn’t really matter , it’s to support the cancer-stopping powers of the organization Stand Up To Cancer. Or at least their possibly, hopefully we’ll one day cure cancer powers.

The t-shirts shown in the vid are available for purchases over at their website,  www.standup2cancer.org/usetheforce. But in addition to sweet tees you can also bid on some swanky stuff, like a “one-of-a-kind Star Wars edition 2012 Volkswagen Passat and dinner with filmmakers including George Lucas, Francis Ford Coppola, John Lasseter, Chris Columbus and Phillip Kaufman.” Yes, dinner with George Lucas. Maybe you can mention what you thought about the Blu-rays….err, maybe you shouldn’t mention that. To bid on the auction items check out their eBay page.
