Lobo-DC-Comics

It seems like Lobo has been stuck in development hell forever – and it has. The DC property, about an intergalactic alien mercenary, was originally optioned for a film way back in 2009. Back then it was Guy Ritchie taking the helm and we briefly had a period where The Rock was in talks to play the bad ass bounty hunter. This past March Jason Fuchs was tapped to write the script after impressing Warner Bros. with his Wonder Woman job. The questions still remain, will we ever see live action Lobo, and which Lobo will we get? (more…)

While DC executives can deny it till the cows come home, Deadpool‘s “R” rated success at the box office is breathing new life into some old comic book properties. On the DC side there’s Lobo, The Main Man, the cursing, killing, hard-drinking, intergalactic biker mercenary of the 90’s reinvention by co-creator Keith Giffen. Wonder Woman screenwriter Jason Fuchs has been tasked with throwing out the previous attempts back in 2009 and coming up with something new, and although it hasn’t been said publicly, something “R” rated of course. If you’ve ever thought that Peter Pan’s story had more to tell, specifically from before he became the Pan, then Joe Wright‘s Pan is for you. We all know J.M. So the amount of faith invested in Warner Bros.’ handling of its DC Comics properties can be measured in a thimble, but that’s not to say there’s no hope at all. As Warners gambles on Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice to establish its own expansive and interconnected universe in one ambitious movie, they also have several follow up projects scheduled for release in 2016 and beyond. One of them, of course, is Wonder Woman, who, as we already know, appears in Batman V. Superman. The solo¬†Wonder Woman¬†film based on the comic about the powerful Amazonian warrior now has a star (Gal Gadot), a director (Michelle MacLaren), and a release date (June 2017), but what it still lacks is a script. Good thing then that the studio is reportedly working on six of them. (more…)

Some of Hollywood’s best have tried and failed to make a Wonder Woman movie. For some strange reason, producing a film about the world’s premiere female superhero has been tougher than making one about a guy with a flaming skull head, or the Norse God of Thunder, or a crew or space pirates that includes a walking tree and a talking raccoon. But progress is being made. Wonder Woman will appear as one of many characters to come to life in the upcoming Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice, and shortly there after, Gal Gadot will launch the Amazonian warrior in her own solo adventure. As we reported a couple of weeks ago, Michelle MacLaren will direct her, and now, reports are saying that Pan writer Jason Fuchs will write the script. (more…)
