Star Wars Cantina Karaoke

Mos Eisley, you will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. Oh and Wednesday is wing night!

The Cantina scene from Star Wars Episode IV has to count as an iconic moment in nerd cinema, with its exotic local and its rag tag mix of bizarre aliens and ne’er do wells. I’m sure we all agree it is a place that we’d love to see more of (special editions and prequels notwithstanding.)

Well look at this, The Nerdist (Chris Hardwick) has rounded up Patton Oswalt, Carrie Keagan, Jason Schwartzman, Mike Phirman and, Billy Dee Williams (oh Lando, how I have missed you) for a little Karaoke, Star Wars style!

Edgar Wright’s “Scott Pilgrim vs. The World,”  is quickly approaching (released Aug. 13th). And, just when you thought a major motion picture, video game and toys were as epic as epic can get Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim is gearing up to air a short animated special titled “Scott Pilgrim vs. The Animation” on August 12th at midnight.

The animated special will be about Scott’s high-school relationship with Sex Bob-omb’s sardonic drummer Kim Pine.

Michael Cera and Alison Pill will reprise their role for the special along with co-stars Mae Whitman and Jason Schwartzman to provide the voices for Lisa and Simon Lee, respectively.

“Scott Pilgrim vs. The Animation” will air on Cartoon Network in two parts between 12:00 and 12:30 am and then again the next day on adultswim.com when “Scott Pilgrim vs. The World” debuts.

From /Film, here’s what producer Jason DeMarco had to say about the animation:

We were approached by Universal to do something cool around the release of Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World. Being huge fans of the comic, and very excited about the film, we asked if we could produce an animated short in the style of the comic. The filmmakers and Bryan Lee O’Malley were into the idea, so we actually made it! Edgar Wright was kind enough to secure some of the talent from the film for us, so we have Michael Cera as Scott, Allison Pill as Kim, Mae Whitman as Lisa and Jason Schwartzman as Simon Lee doing voices in the short.

Slashfilm debuted two clips from the shorts so far. One showcases Scott and Lisa’s first meeting, while the other serves as a commercial for the special stating “‘Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World’ is almost in theaters. Check out the latter after the jump:
