Jim Carey

Mark Millar‘s Kick-Ass was a violent and humorously dark look into the world of costumed heroes. The Sequel, Kick-Ass 2 looks to be every bit the thrill ride the first movie was and more. More action, more heroes, more villains, and 100% more dogs biting bad guys in the nuts.

I’m ready for Millar to get serious and get his graphic novel The Pro onto the big screen, that would be a hoot. If you haven’t read The Pro, I suggest you get out to your local comic book shop and pick it up. It’s not something you’ll want to give to your mother for Mother’s Day, but it’s a fantastically farcical look at what happens when a hooker gains superpowers.

Take a look at the trailer below and let us know what you think, will Jim Carey steal the show? Will Hit-Girl make the cheer-leading squad?

Inspired by Kick-Ass (Aaron Taylor-Johnson), other masked heroes appear. One such, Colonel Stars and Stripes (Jim Carrey), forms a team and Kick-Ass joins them on patrol, while Hit-Girl (Chloë Grace Moretz) “retires”, and tries to have a normal life. Meanwhile Red Mist (Christopher Mintz-Plasse)—reborn as The Mother Fucker—returns to play supervillain with his army, and exact revenge on Kick-Ass for his father’s death.

kick-ass 2 Chloe Moretz

Mark Millar‘s Kick-Ass 2 has a new international trailer smacking its way around the internet today. The trailer focuses on Chloë Moretz‘s character Mindy Macready aka Hit-Girl and her attempt to adjust to a normal life after the events of Kick-Ass and the death of her father.

As one can easily guess, the adrenalin pumped world of fighting crime is not easy for Hit-Girl to give up after training her whole life to do just that, kick ass. We get another look at Hit-Girl training Kick-Ass (Aaron Johnson) who makes the transformation from bumbling superhero wannabe into a pumped-up, skilled fighter.

The trailer also gives us more glimpses of Colonel Stars and Stripes, (Jim Carrey). According to the sequel’s plot synopsis, Kick-Ass joins forces with the Colonel to battle Red Mist (Christopher Mintz-Plasse), who betrayed him in the first film.

Kick-Ass, Hit Girl and Red Mist return for the follow-up to 2010’s irreverent global hit: ‘Kick-Ass 2.’ After Kick-Ass’ (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) insane bravery inspires a new wave of self-made masked crusaders, led by the badass Colonel Stars and Stripes (Jim Carrey), our hero joins them on patrol. When these amateur superheroes are hunted down by Red Mist (Christopher Mintz-Plasse)—reborn as The Mother F%&*^r—only the blade-wielding Hit Girl (Chloë Grace Moretz) can prevent their annihilation. When we last saw junior assassin Hit Girl and young vigilante Kick-Ass, they were trying to live as normal teenagers Mindy and Dave. With graduation looming and uncertain what to do, Dave decides to start the world’s first superhero team with Mindy.

Unfortunately, when Mindy is busted for sneaking out as Hit Girl, she’s forced to retire—leaving her to navigate the terrifying world of high-school mean girls on her own. With no one left to turn to, Dave joins forces with Justice Forever, run by a born-again ex-mobster named Colonel Stars and Stripes. Just as they start to make a real difference on the streets, the world’s first super villain, The Mother F%&*^r, assembles his own evil league and puts a plan in motion to make Kick-Ass and Hit Girl pay for what they did to his dad. But there’s only one problem with his scheme: If you mess with one member of Justice Forever, you mess with them all.

Directed by Jeff Wadlow, who also adapted the script from Millar’s Kick-Ass 2 comic book, the film also stars John Leguizamo, as well as former Scrubs actor Donald Faison, and opens in theaters everywhere on June 28th.

Empire Magazine‘s latest issue is out in France and there’s some new production stills from some of the most anticipated movies of 2013 inside. We however have decided to bring you these scans instead, because that’s all anyone can get a hold of at the moment.

First up is  Zack Snyder‘s Man Of Steel, which graces the cover and two stills below. I have to admit that the new super suit is starting to grow on me. Henry Cavill looks pretty bad ass in the picture above.

We get a nice look at Russell Crowe as Superman’s biological father Jor-El in what looks like some kind of galactic conference room, perhaps they are discussing the fate of Michael Shannon as General Zod pictured below.

Next we move on to Mark Millar and Johnny Romita Jr‘s Kick Ass 2. Here’s a scan of Col Stars and Stripes (Jim Carey) and Kick-Ass (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) giving each other some superhero love in a manly, chest beating manner.

The next scan is Chloe Grace Moretz as Hit-Girl. Too bad the scan cut out the text beside it.

The Wolverine, directed by James Mangold and starring Hugh Jackman is looking good. Until we get that first trailer though we’re going to have to settle for the few production stills that are trickling out. Check out Logan all dressed up and ready to party. I did a double take when I saw he was wearing a tie. I can’t imagine Wolverine wearing a tie and really can’t remember a time in the comics where he did. Can any of you?

Next we get “Stomping mad” Logan, doesn’t he look pissed below? I wouldn’t want to be the one he’s walking toward with that look on his face. I’d most likely lose all control of my bowels.

Last, but not least is a scan of Thor: The Dark World. There’s not much to see, but we do get a nice look at Chris Hemsworth in full Thor costume.

The Mighty Marvel Movie Rumor Mill is still cranking out interesting little tidbits about their upcoming movie, Guardians of the Galaxy. The lead role of Peter Quill/Starlord is still open and now names like Wes Bentley, Chris Lowell, and Cam Gigandet have entered the discussion.

In a move reminiscent of a Stan Lee‘s “Stan’s Soapbox,” where Stan would pontificate and throw out future project ideas to see what would get a reader response, word from the Marvel camp (Via Latino Review) is that Marvel is looking at two big name comedic actors to take on the roles of Rocket Raccoon and Groot. Who might that be you ask? Jim Carey and Adam Sandler.

Marvel is asking for the availability of both Jim Carrey AND Adam Sandler!

It’s not a bad idea really, add a well known name to not so well known comic book team. The question becomes, would either of those two consider the role and how well would they handle it? Between those two I would want Jim Carey, he has a lot of experience with voice work and comic book movies like Batman and Robin and his upcoming role in Kick Ass 2. I’ve often thought he might BE an alien, so thinking about him playing one is not much of a step to take.

Let’s not forget that The Walking Dead‘s Micheal Rooker, who’s worked with Guardians of the Galaxy‘s director James Gunn before, wouldn’t mind playing that rascally Rocket Raccoon as well.

If you’re worried about an overly comedic actor taking on the role, just check out what Gunn was able to do with “comedian” Rainn Wilson in Super. The tension and comedy of that movie performance was electric, Gunn could recreate that with whichever actor finally gets the role. Gunn seems to have that magical ability to draw additionally unknown talent out of his actors.
