Joseph Fiennes

brett ratner

Brett Ratner is a man whose directorial work many might place on the same level as a war crime.  If you’ve ever tried to sit down and watch Rush Hour 3 or X-Men: The Last Stand, you probably know exactly what I’m talking about.  But for some reason people keep giving this guy money and letting him direct.  His latest project is a piece based on the Hercules legend, titled, naturally, Hercules.  Now, we here at Nerd Bastards have some news for you from the casting couch.

First and foremost, Ian McShane will be coming onboard to play the role of Amphiarus.  This character is loosely described as a warrior/priest/prophet that bestows advice on Hercules and guides him during his journey.

Other additions consist of names both big and small, including Joseph Fiennes, John Hurt and Rebecca Ferguson.  What roles any of these actors will be playing is as-of-yet unknown.  They will joining in with the already cast Rufus Sewell (playing Autolycus), Askel Hennie (in the role of Tydeus) and the artist formerly known as “The Rock”, Dwayne Johnson, in the titular role of Hercules.

In case you’re in the dark on the project, it’s based on a pair of Hercules comic book series written by Steve Moore, illustrated by Cris Bolsin and published by Radical Publishing.

If you can bring yourself to sit through another of Ratner’s films, check out Hercules when it hits theaters comes July 25th, 2014.

Thanks to ComingSoon for the early warning.

American Horror Story: Asylum is set to premiere on October 17 on FX. Which, for me, is flippin’ fantastic. Mrs Nerd Bastards and I just started watching the first season on DVD. We love it, by the way. Most fucked up show we’ve seen on TV. Ghosts, gimps, sexual perversions and fantastic acting (Jessica Lang is amazing). Anyway, while we’re finishing up the season, the rest of you might like to know you can watch the first 5 minutes of the second season.

Mrs. NB and I have a few eps. left, so we dunno how it ends. I have wondered, though, how they could do a second season. What more could they do with it? I mean, how many more dead people can they keep introducing. Well, I’ve just been served a can of “shut the hell up” because,  creator Ryan Murphy started basically from scratch for the second season. New cast members include Adam Levine, Jenna Dewan Tatum, James CromwellJoseph FiennesLizzie BrocheréChloë SevignyChris ZylkaFranka Potente, and Clea Duvall. Jessica LangeZachary QuintoEvan PetersSarah PaulsonLily Rabe, and Frances Conroy are all returning, but each will play different characters than they did in the first season. I dunno how all that’s going to work out, but I’m certainly curious.

The clip shows Levine and Dewan Tatum as newlyweds on their honeymoon taking a tour of haunted sites. Watch it below:
