Tom-Hardy-Mad-Max-header

George Miller‘s long-awaited fourth installment in the franchise that essentially birthed the post-apocalyptic subgenre is looking good: In the hot, dusty, lawless, sadomasochistic way moviegoers of the 1980s came to know and love (including myself).

Mad Max: Fury Road seems to be a semi-reboot taking place after the events of the original Mad Max–meaning it is intended to either precede or replace The Road Warrior. Like that film, it’s low on dialogue. Miller reportedly relied more on storyboards than on screenplay in composing the film, but given that he’s had the better part of 30 years to get the 4th Mad Max film right, I’m fairly optimistic for Fury Road. With the release of Guardians of the Galaxy’s first trailer last week, we kinda forgot all about (briefly) one of the other superhero movies coming out this summer: X-Men: Days of Future Past. A French website aims to change that with a bunch of new shots from the film, including a snap of Quicksilver played by Evan Peters. That’s no  big deal, right? But there are bigger questions that a couple of the photos raise, like the sight of a certain girl with Quicksilver… You know who we’re talking about. (more…)

Josh-Helman

As if the new X-Men: Days of Future Past didn’t already have enough people in it, it looks like Bryan Singer and company have decided to add yet one more face to the line-up.  This time around, the addition comes in the form of Australian actor, Josh Helman.

Helman is a name that most probably won’t recognize, but he’s managed to work his way into a number of bigger flicks as of late, the most notable being alongside Tom Cruise in Jack Reacher.  His next break seems to be with the X-Men, though as of yet no one is saying anything about what role he’ll take on.  One thing we do know is that Helman is expected to be on set for at least a couple of weeks, meaning he’ll be doing more than just playing the guy that polishes Professor X’s wheelchair.

Do we have another mutant taking the stage in this already swarmed-with-super powers flick?  I’m sure they’ll let us know before too long and we here at Nerd Bastards will pass the news on to you when we figure it out.  Why?  Because we love you.

Thanks to ComingSoon for the heads-up.
