Empirehas a new spread on Thor: The Dark World featuring some beautiful images from the film. Directed by the talented Alan Taylor (Game of Thrones, Sopranos, Hell, this guy has directed episodes of some of my favorite television series, way to many to name), Thor: The Dark World stars Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Natalie Portman, Anthony Hopkins, Idris Elba, Rene Russo, Stellan Skarsgard, Kat Dennings, Jaimie Alexander, Ray Stevenson and newcomers Christopher Eccleston (Malekith), Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Algrim) and Zachary Levi (Fandral).
The Empire spread, as always, has some interesting quotes about the movie:
“You know, we are killing Asgardians in this movie,” says director Alan Taylor inside. “It turns out immortality isn’t all that it was cracked up to be.”
Explains producer Craig Kyle, “Asgard at the beginning of the first film was at a time of peace. Now our guys have been fighting for over a year, constantly. It’s a time of war.
“When the Bifrost was broken at the end of the first film, Odin had to conjure a lot of dark energy and go through a lot of personal sacrifice to try and get his son back to Earth. And it was a one-shot deal. If Thor didn’t succeed, without the Tesseract he couldn’t have got back again. And in our film, finally the Bifrost has been rebuilt, but during that time, when the cops were largely cut off from the rest of the universe, you had miscreants that came in from outside the Nine Realms, pillaging and destroying and causing havoc. So that’s what our guys have been doing now – trying to put all these fires out across the Nine Realms.”
Sounds like there is trouble in paradise for the Asgardians. This time around there should be plenty of action. My only question about the pictures is, “Who is that rocky headed guy Thor is laughing with or at?”
Check out the gallery below and let us know what you think in the comments section. Will you be in a theater seat November 8th when the movie opens?
With just about two months until the November 8th premiere of Marvel Studios‘ Thor: The Dark World we should see a lot more clips, interviews, and other production treats soon. Let’s start the whole thing off with a new trailer! It’s got everything we’ve been waiting for as the $h!ts about to hit the fan in good old Asgard as those dastardly Dark Elves do Malekith’s dirty deeds.
Everyone is back for this sequel, Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Stellan Skarsgård, Idris Elba, Christopher Eccleston, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Kat Dennings, Ray Stevenson, Zachary Levi ( The new Fandral), Tadanobu Asano and Jaimie Alexander with Rene Russo and Anthony Hopkins as Odin.
I’ve got to say that IMHO and from what I’ve seen, Tom Hiddleston is going to steal the show in this movie. I can’t wait to see more of Loki and Thor, plus Loki and all the other cast of characters. And don’t forget Odin’s wife Frigga, it looks like she might get a great scene to throw down against some Dark Elves.
Take a look and let us know what you think about the trailer below.
I’m fairly sure, anyone that reads Nerd Bastards, or keeps up with comic book movie news, knows the premise of Thor 2. Evil elves fuck shit up… Thor and crew realm hop and save the universe from going to hell.
Reading an official plot synopsis at this point seems, well, rather pointless. Still… if you want read it, we got it.
The plot outline was revealed today at New York Comic Con. As suspected, it confirms the Alan Taylor-directed film will include all of Norse Mythology’s Nine Realms, and a glimpse of the villain(s).
Marvel’s “Thor: The Dark World” continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvel’s “Thor” and “Marvel’s The Avengers,” Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos…but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all.
Starring Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Stellan Skarsgård, Idris Elba, Christopher Eccleston, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Kat Dennings, Ray Stevenson, Zachary Levi, Tadanobu Asano and Jaimie Alexander with Rene Russo and Anthony Hopkins as Odin, “Thor: The Dark World” is directed by Alan Taylor, produced by Kevin Feige, from a story by Don Payne (credit not final) and screenplay by Christopher Yost and Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely (credit not final) and is based on Marvel’s classic Super Hero Thor, who first appeared in the comic book “Journey into Mystery” #83 in August, 1962.
“Thor: The Dark World” is presented by Marvel Studios. The executive producers are Louis D’Esposito, Alan Fine, Stan Lee, Victoria Alonso, Craig Kyle and Nigel Gostelow. The film releases November 8, 2013, and is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures
Actually, having read that, I think Thor 2 might just be the biggest solo film since Iron Man 1. Just get rid of Jane Foster and we good!
Thor 2: The Dark World may not be coming soon to a theater near you, but people are still just as excited as if they only had a few more weeks to wait. The studio is finishing up casting of the film and fans eagerly await each bit of news regarding who will be in it, what roles they might be playing and what that means to the overall story of the sequel. The latest additions to the cast? Kat Dennings and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje.
Kat Dennings will be continuing her role as Darcy Lewis, despite other obligations with her popular TV show 2 Broke Girls. Her return was questionable for a while, but it looks like she decided to go ahead and jump on board. In the first film she was a somewhat forgettable sidekick to Natalie Portman, but it looks like this time around she will be getting a little more screen time.
The other addition, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (try saying that five times fast) is probably most famous for his role in the frightfully confusing television show Lost. In Thor 2 he will be taking on the part of a Dark Elf by the name of Algrim. According the rumor mill, he’ll get to take a shot or two at beating up Thor.
In case you’ve been living in a closet with no Internet, the rest of the (important) cast so far are as follows: Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Anthony Hopkins, Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, Jaimie Alexander, Stellan Skarsgard, Rene Russo and Christopher Eccleston.
Thor 2: The Dark World is set for release on November 8th, 2013 and will be the second installment of the “Phase 2” Marvel super hero movie bombardment.
She may have just played Natalie Portman‘s sidekick in Thor, but it looks like Kat Dennings will re-up for the part of Darcy in the upcoming sequel featuring the God of Thunder. In an interview with GoldDerby on Blip, the star of 2 Broke Girls kind of confirmed, but not really, that she’ll be returning in the superhero sequel.
I do know the answer to that, however I do not have the clearance to talk… interpret that as you will. I’ve asked when I can say things, but apparently I can’t yet, so that will come soon.
That suits me if Dennings is back for more Thor, to me she was the most engaging part of the Terra Firma scenes in the first film. Dennings will join fellow returning players Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, Natalie Portman, Stellan Skarsgård and Anthony Hopkins when Thor 2 stars filming later this summer.
Paramount recently gave certain members of the press and critics an early screening of Kenneth Branagh’s Thor. Sadly, we didn’t get invited to the party. Apparently members of the press complained about that ONE time we got a popcorn bucket blow job from that hot girl in the front row. Ha, they were just jealous. *Note: like we would be so lucky. We got banned for bringing in some outside JuJuBees They’re real sticklers about the “NO OUTSIDE FOOD” policy.
Here’s a sampling of early reviews, which basically put this myth and magic film in the good, not great comic-to-screen adaptation category. Apparently Chris Hemsworth breaks out in the title role, and the film’s earth-bound sections are its weakest. Something along those lines anyway.
Keep in mind that these are only early reviews of Thor and are no way the thoughts and expressions of the Gods of Asgard or Nerdbastards.com, we’re waiting for May 6th to thunder it’s arrival.

How does Thor stack up to other Marvel Heros? (more…)
Admit it, everything sounds better in french. No? Well, have a listen to this French movie trailer for Marvel’s Thor and tell me different.
This trailer much plays out like the last trailer we’ve seen. Thor (Chris Hemsworth) being cast out of Asgard, found on Earth by Natalie Portman and Kat Dennings and then caught up in two major battles. It was cut a little different, and includes a few new additional scenes but the biggest difference is that it’s in French. Dubbing is normally retarded, but hearing Odin and the God of Thunder speak in the language of love is mildly amusing. Oui?
Thor stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Rene Russo, Idris Elba, Kat Dennings, Clark Gregg, Jaimie Alexander, Ray Stevenson, Joshua Dallas, Tadanobu Asano, and Anthony Hopkins.
