We are a couple months away from the premier of Prometheus, the newest Sci-Fi film by Ridley Scott. The film looks like – and has been assumed to be – a prequel to Scott’s Alien franchise, but it (apparently) has little, or nothing to do, with Xenomorph mythos. It’s (supposedly) just another Sci-Fi thriller with H.R. Giger inspired surrealism. On topic of the visual style, we have 16 new high resolution images to gawk at.

You can pleasure yourself to the recently released trailers if you like, but I think these images really allow you to appreciate the fetishistic sexual imagery that Scott is presenting. The behind-the-scene images are fun too. The pic of a lone Ridley Scott is pin-up calendar worthy.

Incoming message from the big giant head! Yep… that was reference to Third Rock From The Sun, a show I very seldom get to reference anymore. I thank the new teaser poster for Ridley Scott’s Prometheus for reminding of that 90’s sitcom gold. The movie has no connection to the show (that I know of) other than the fact that the poster features a big giant head. The poster actually looks like a vague reference to the one-sheet for Alien (hit the jump for reference). It’s basically the Alien poster with a giant stone face floating above.

We’ve been told by Ridley Scott that Prometheus has no connection to his aliens films, but clearly the old fuck has been pulling our chains. It is obviously a prequel to Alien. It explains the creation and purpose of the xenomorphs. He’s not fooling anybody. Unless, of course,…this is actually a sequel to Blade Runner and he completely mind fucked us.

If you’ve been following news regarding Prometheus then I feel I’m in the right to say  that you spend too much time on the internet. Get outside. Attempt to get laid. You’ll fail miserably, but chalk up some life experience you basement dwelling troglodite. Anyway, as most of you know the upcoming scifi thriller that is Prometheus grew from ‘Alien’ roots. It was supposed to be a prequel. Crazy man Ridley Scott punked us (douche). It’s “alien” influence remains, but the film will be an entirely new concept. Which, honestly is a bit welcomed. I don’t think prequels work, ultimately because we know the end result. A fresh and creative concept would reignite the genre.

Now, the three actors have already joined the tight lipped production, Noomi Rapace, Charlize Theron and Michael Fassbender. Aka the pretty people. Now we have some uglies rounding out cast. Hey, you gotta make the beautiful people look even better and surrounding them with mutants will make them look even more really, really, ridiculously good looking. The new trio coming into the Prometheus fray is Idris Elba, Sean Harris and Kate Dickie. OK, I must apologize about the ugly train. Only Sean Harris and Kate Dickie exude fine fuglieness. Idris Elba is a gorgeous black man (apparently has a huge dong too). Kate Dickie just makes my penis sad. So, Ridley Scott , an a interview, revealed these additions and also mentioned that he’s gone to great lengths to keep the script secret.

His ensemble cast, which includes Oscar- winning Charlize Theron and hot actors Michael Fassbender, Noomi Rapace, Idris Elba, Sean Harris and Kate Dickie, not only had to sign secrecy clauses, but were only allowed to read the story if they visited Ridley’s production office. (One exception was made, when a security courier flew to an actor’s foreign location and stood guard for two hours while the screenplay was perused.)… ‘I was insistent that the script not leak onto the internet, where it gets dissected out of context, which spoils it for everyone.’

I think we can assume that if the script is on such a lock down that all rumors and reports that have been leaking out can be nullified. Scott went onto say,

It’s the story of creation, the gods and the man who stood against them. It’s not a small film. I’m using the giant James Bond 007 stage at Pinewood and six other sound stages to film it.

The latter half of that quote was a joke. He went onto reaffirm that this is not a prequel to Alien,

While ‘Alien’ was indeed the jumping off point for this project, out of the creative process evolved a new, grand mythology and universe in which this original story takes place. The keen fan will recognize strands of ‘Alien’s’ DNA, so to speak, but the ideas tackled in this film are unique, large and provocative.

The movie is set to start shooting in three weeks, and is coming to theaters on June 8th 2012. The mystery revolving the script has got my all chubby, I’m stoked to see this flick.
