Universal Pictures has released the first full trailer for Danny Boyle’s drama-filled Steve Jobs, and it looks like one intense ride. Written by Aaron Sorkin, the film is based on Walter Isaacson’s best-selling biography of the Apple founder. The cast looks top-notch, and you can feel how compelling the story is from the brief glimpses in the trailer. Here’s the write up: (more…)
I haven’t read the Divergent books, which is a rare position for me to be in. I had read all the Harry Potters, all the Twilights and all The Hunger Games before seeing the movies, but I don’t think I made it though 20 pages of Divergent before wanting to move on to something else. That’s not a commentary on Vanessa Roth‘s prose, but a sign that Divergent is a bridge too far. This is a road we’ve been down, a story that’s been retold one too many times, and even though the details are different, they all basically add up the same whole: chosen one rebels against Draconian system and leads friends and comrades to a better future free of evil and oppression. Director Neil Burger‘s (The Illusionist) latest project, an adaptation of Veronica Roth‘s Divergent series of young adult adventure fiction, premiered its first trailer at the MTV VMA awards show over the weekend. It’s another of those Hollywood projects that got fast tracked after the success of The Hunger Games. Can this franchise capitalize on and capture a world audience or will it sputter out like so many others?
Based on Veronica Roth’s #1 New York Times best-selling novel, DIVERGENT is a gripping action thriller set in a futuristic world where society has been divided into five factions. As each person approaches adulthood, he or she must choose a faction and commit to it for the rest of their life. Tris Prior (Shailene Woodley) chooses Dauntless—the daring risk-takers who pursue bravery above all else. During the Dauntless initiation, Tris completes death-defying stunts and faces her inmost fears in spectacular simulations. When she discovers she is a Divergent, someone who will never be able to fit into just one faction, she is warned that she must conceal this secret or risk her life. As Tris uncovers a looming war which threatens her family and the life of the mysterious Dauntless leader whom she has come to love, Tris must face her greatest test yet—deciding whether revealing she is a Divergent will save her world—or destroy it.
The Divergent cast is rounded out by Kate Winslet, Maggie Q, Theo James, Ansel Elgort, Miles Teller, Zoe Kravitz, Jai Courtney, Mekhi Pfeiffer, and Ashley Judd.

Divergent hits theater screens on March 21st, 2014. Will your butt be in a theater seat opening weekend?
Take half of the Farrelly Brothers (Peter Farrelly), mix in a whole pack of other directors (Elizabeth Banks, Steven Brill, Steve Carr, Rusty Cundieff, James Duffy, Griffin Dunne, Patrik Forsberg, James Gunn, Bob Odenkirk and Brett Ratner) and an astonishingly large cast of famous faces (I’m not going to list them all, just watch the trailer and you’ll recognize everyone) and what do you get? A movie that looks far funnier than I think any of us expected. The true cinephile will recall classic comedy anthology movies like Kentucky Fried Movie, Amazon Women On The Moon and The Groove Tube, and by the looks of it, Farrelly intends to resurrect the genre with Movie 43.
Hot damn does it look funny. Check the trailer out below, but be warned it is very NSFW due to f-bombs and nudity. Yes, the Movie 43 trailer, come for the nudity and Kate Winslet cursing, stay to be inspired by Terrence Howard.
Contagion is a frightening, sci-fi thriller from Steven Soderbergh about a terrible virus set loose on the world that begins wiping out all humans, very quickly. Well, it’s not so much sci-fi since little of this story will be fiction. Hence, why it’ll be so terrifying, the whole concept is frighteningly possible. Contagion follows,
the rapid progress of a lethal airborne virus that kills within days. As the fast-moving epidemic grows, the worldwide medical community races to find a cure and control the panic that spreads faster than the virus itself. At the same time, ordinary people struggle to survive in a society coming apart.
