The staff at NerdBastards is very much divided on the Michael Bay-directed Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle movies. Half of us watched the first film and secretly acknowledged that it at was at least a good way to waste two hours of our time. The other half bayed at the heavens as soon as they caught wind of the new CGI Turtles, cringed as they watched the first teasers roll in and slowly curled themselves into the fetal position all the way up to Act 3. With Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: Out of The Shadows recently announced, most of us feared a repeat of the oh-so-gradual lapse in quality that began with Secret Of The Ooze. What we didn’t expect however, was that the movies would be as bold as to introduce one of the TMNT’s cartoon series most iconic villains. (more…)
For most people that remember the first wave of Turtle Power in the late 80s/early 90s, their way into the show was the animated series based on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. It was an eclectic little show that featured ninjas, mutants, robots, aliens, and got a nation of kids permanently addicted to pizza. For those now grown-up kids, the latest live-action Turtles movie may not have done much to encourage fond memories of the franchise they loved so much, but maybe what it lacked were some old familiar faces, at least on the dark side of things. The Interwebz is a great place for nerdy art and the like. A lot of the time it’s fuckin’ weird shit like some guy trying to fuck his iPhone 4 (so that he can get an iPhone 4S) and shit like that. But there are a lot of awesome things that we see on a daily basis, and we’re lazy nerd bastards so we just round them all up once a week for your nerdgasm glory.
This week we’ll start off with some gorgeous digital paintings of Disney princesses — we’ve got Ariel, our little mermaid, pictured above. Jace Wallace‘s other artwork is absolutely amazing as well.
I have to admit, when I was growing up I wanted nothing more than to be April from TMNT, as an adult I realize that would have meant fucking some nuclear mutated turtle in a sewer. Eww.. We all know and love the turtles and their villains and with the resurgence of everything that made growing up in the 80’s and 90’s awesome we’ve seen our fair share of Ninja Turtle garb. Honestly this is the first piece I can recall seeing that features Krang. Bonus points for him being in the correct position on the hoodie. Check out several close up photos and a link to the store after the jump….
