leaked photos

ew-cover-apocThat is, he actually kinda sorta looks like he is suppose to look.

When the internet got it’s first look at Oscar Isaac as Apocalypse in the villains eponymous X-Men movie,  well let’s say it was less than kind. Yes, we all know he bore an uncanny resemblance to a certain oozy purple Power Ranger villain and yes it was kind of rough seeing the big budget Hollywood blockbuster costume pale in comparison to some great, source clinging cosplay. Well, maybe that’s not his final form?

XMenNewz has posted some photos that, if legit, might make even the most cynical X-Fan rest a little easier about En Sabah Nur’s big screen debut. It also might spoil parts of the movie so the pic and a super special surprise bonus are up after the jump.  (more…)

Even though that one guy in the stylish cutoff jean shorts is clearly holding a sign saying ‘No Pictures Please!’ Not cool guys, not cool. That keygrip clearly spent at least 3 minutes making that sign.

While filming continues on Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier in Cleveland, a pack of ne’er-do-wells were hovering around the set trying to snap photos, according to the rumors, causing filming to halt and the shoot moved in doors free from the camera wielding rapscallions. Just not before one managed to get a rather clear shot of  Sebastian Stan in costume as the Cap’s former sidekick turned masked Winter Soldier.

To protect the spoiler sensitive, the photo is up after the jump.  (more…)

Last week it would have been pretty hard to search any of your usual movie or nerd culture blogs and not catch a peek at leaked set photos from Star Trek 2. Seriously, Benedict Cumberbatch‘s twisted, screaming face was all over the net. Which really isn’t all that unusual, except these photos might have spoiled a rather climatic moment from J.J. Abram‘s Star Trek sequel and to put it nicely, he’s pissed.

The photos in question feature Zachary Quinto as Spock pulling the ‘ole Vulcan nerve pinch on Cumberbatch, who has long be rumored as the movie’s villain and these photos, well, they don’t do much to disprove the rumor. Also seen is Zoe Saldana (Uhura) holding Cumberbatch at gun, sorry, phaser point. Obviously, he’s done something to get on their bad side. Other than that there’s a lot of green screen and generic, futuristic set pieces. So, have you really been spoiled?

Maybe, but no more so than any other fan who’s constantly checking up on rumors and set reports, and I’m guessing those are majority of people who saw the photos. But, I’m also going to guess that doesn’t matter to J.J. Saldana spoke to MTV about the leak,

J.J. was very upset. I have to say that. It’s not going to stop people from intruding, but they are, and it’s such a bummer because it only hurts them by stealing away the surprise.

Personally, I don’t feel too much surprise has been stolen. If anything these photos only make me more excited for the picture’s final release. You can’t judge a finished film by a few leaked photos. But maybe that’s just me. Quinto in a separate interview said,

The cameras weren’t even rolling, so … imagine what it’ll look like when we’re actually doing it. That happens, I guess. We’re on incredibly big set pieces in the middle of somewhere and people sort of got wind of it.

See! Now they’re obligated to make their finished product even more spectacular! Which, I didn’t really have any fear they weren’t going to do anyway.

So don’t get mad, J.J. I know this might seem to you, a set back, but I think it’s a marvelous opportunity to keep hitting us with misdirecting rumors. For instance, Quinto and Cumberbatch aren’t fighting, it’s a neck massage. And of course Uhura’s pissed, she’s yelling at Cumberbatch to, “Get away from my man!” as she points that phaser at him. Sadly, what she doesn’t know is Spock and Cumbervillain have fallen in love.

Okay, that frighteningly started to sway towards terrible fanfiction writing. I’m sorry.

Anyway, what do you think about leaked photos and video from sets? Do they spoil the movie for you or do they play an important role in the hype-building machine for a flick?
