Legend of Zelda

One of the most popular game franchises in not just Nintendo‘s repertoire but the entire history of gaming, Legend of Zelda has defined the high-fantasy adventure puzzle genre. Spanning dozens of games over the course of thirty years, the series has shown no sign of losing popularity and the generations go on. Over its now considerable life span, the franchise has inspired a television series, a number of comic books and graphic novels, board games and a live performance of the game soundtracks by symphony orchestras that toured the world. There has been no shortage of ways to indulge your Legend of Zelda love. (more…)

The Nintendo stage at this year’s E3 convention was dominated by just two games. Along with a little more information about the new NX console coming out next year, Nintendo focused mainly on the upcoming Pokémon releases and the hugely anticipated new Legend of Zelda game, Breath of the Wild. Given that both franchises are decades old, the originality that have gone into the new games has certainly made Nintendo’s announements unique. Pokémon Go offers fans a foray into real world gaming, while almost everything about Breath of the Wild is groundbreaking. (more…)

It appears that our great disappointment over the misinformation about The Legend of Zelda’s Netflix series may soon be put to rest with a possible new project. During Nintendo‘s 75th annual shareholder’s meeting, where all of the top Nintendogs try to convince their investors that they’re still awesome, CEO Satoru Iwata dropped some intriguing nuggets about the company’s non-gaming future. This could indeed be another sign of the Disney-Nintendo partnership rumor we recently reported here, lending credence to the story. No full translation of the meeting is available for our greedy eyes just yet, but Iwata was still quoted confirming those plans.  (more…)

It’s one hell of a time to be a nerd. I’ve never played ‘Legend Of Zelda,‘ but even I know that the show was more about Link than it was Princess Zelda. You just pick that stuff up along the way. I was more of a ‘Space Harrier’ fan, even though the longevity comparison between both games is woefully huge. In fact, let’s take a vote! If you were to make a TV show or movie about a video game, which would it be? Keep in mind that those efforts often fail at the box office. You gotta be very careful about that. In the case of television, you gotta aim for those coveted ratings instead. That is, unless you’re doing ‘Legend Of Zelda.’ (more…)

While the world continues to come to grips with the loss of Robin Williams, celebrity/fan tributes and remembrances are popping up everywhere on the Internet. There are also quite a few real world tributes appearing at Robin Williams sites like the Mork & Mindy house, the Good Will Hunting bench, and William’s Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Williams was an avid gamer and the gaming community, specifically the World of Warcraft community, has started a petition to create a Robin Williams NPC tribute character in the world of WoW. Pointed and sharp bladed swords are NOT toys, and should not be treated lightly. They can, and in this case, DID cause serious injury.

This weekend in Houston, TX a cosplayer apparently broke up a fight between his ex-wife and her new boyfriend with a replica of Link‘s famous Master Sword from Nintendo‘s Legend of Zelda video game franchise.  (more…)
