Lego Star Warshas been an unwavering element of Lego‘s adaptations and it doesn’t look like slowing down. If anything, Lego Star Wars is picking up speed, as they develop Lego sets, films, TV series and video games. The video game series has been ongoing since 2005 and is releasing another title next month. The title of the latest installment is Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens and in celebration of Star Wars Day, Lego have released a trailer for the upcoming game.
Okay, so it’s probably not the new Star Wars trailer you’d like to see (Rogue One anyone?), but a sneak peak trailer forLEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens has been leaked, and if you’re still in love with the seventh Star Wars movie, then you’re definitely going to love this. Copying some of the scenes portrayed in the movie’s trailers, the game looks like it will give fans the change to play as Finn, Rey, Poe Dameron and all your favorites from The Force Awakens, plus it will apparently fill in some of the blanks from the time period between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens. Interested yet? (more…)
To celebrate the release of 3D Star Wars: Phantom Menace, the LEGO corporation, along with certified German LEGO professional Rene Hoffmeister, developed and constructed a way to turn LEGO bricks into music using the basic concept of a barrel organ.
We took the iconic Star Wars Main Theme, rearranged it and translated it into a matrix – the construction blueprint for the organ. Then, we took the four most famous Star Wars worlds – Hoth, Tatooine, Endor and the Death Star – and built them on to the barrel, accordingly to the musical composition. When the organ is turned, the bricks touch mechanical sensors – these strike the keys of a built-in keyboard and play the Star Wars Main Theme
Nothing brought me more joy as a child than an afternoon with a tub of LEGO bricks. Kids today though, man, they have it great. Not only is LEGO still a staple of children’s toys but their ever expanding partnerships create some of the coolest LEGO collections. Announced yesterday at San Diego Comic-Con, LEGO is partnering with Marvel and DC for a new line of LEGO Super Heroes. I’ll let the enormity of this awesomeness sink in. OMG! LEGO SUPER HEROES!
There’s already been a LEGO Batman line of toys, which then branched into a LEGO Batman video game, but now kids can collect the entire Justice League! All right, let’s be honest, it won’t only be kids. I’ll be buying up LEGO DC characters, you’ll be buying LEGO DC characters or possibly Marvel, collectors will be buying up every available minifig. Shit, after these new LEGO Super Heroes are released there won’t be any left for kids!
As you’ll be able to tell for yourself when you look at the gallery below, the Marvel figures are still in a preliminary stage. For one, the Hulk has no face. In the Marvel line I particularly like Wolverine, those LEGO claws are great. Iron Man’s helmet looks weird though, too big for his body. But the DC figures look ready to hit the shelves at a moments notice. Just look at that Wonder Woman! She’s beautiful. Superman and Poison Ivy are new figures as well, with Batman, the Joker and Catwoman getting some updating. Note the logo on Batman’s chest. Special editons of Batman and Green Lantern are being made available too, but there will be only about 1,500 of those, so good luck snagging one. here will also be super heroes in LEGO’s Hero Factory line, which are figures you build yourself. In this line will be Batman, Green Lanter, the Hulk and Iron Man.
Here’s the teaser for the new LEGO Batman,
Check out the gallery of LEGO minifigs below the cut (thanks to ComicBricks for the images!) and let us know what you think about the new line of LEGO Super Heroes. Also below the cut is the trailer for the LEGO Star Wars TV Special, give it a watch!
Today, whip out your lightsaber, make the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs and talking backwards begin, hrm. Why, you ask? For the love of our favorite sci-fi movie series, Star Wars. Sure, it’s had it’s ups and downs over it’s 34 year history. There have been some questionable alterations to the original trilogy and then there’s the prequels, but through it all Star Wars fans stay devoted. So, on today, the most pun-erific of holidays, fly your Star Wars nerd flag and wave it high. Who knows, you might find fellow fans of the Wars in the most unlikely of places.
Need tips on celebrating the venerated day? Oooh, I’m waaaay ahead of you. The most likely way you’ll want to celebrate the special day is with a movie marathon of the films. Lucky for you Lucasfilm made a special announcement today about the upcoming Blu-ray release of the complete Star Wars saga. They released the full list of special features included on the 9-disc mega edition, and there is enough crap to satiate even the most die hard of fans. Oh wait, except they’ve decided not to include versions of the original, unaltered films. Why? Because apparently Lucasfilm is trying to rewrite history. They want the first time we see Jabba to be when he’s talking to Han in the Falcon’s hanger in A New Hope. Or even worse, they want to ingrain the god-awful musical number from Jabba’s palace in Return of the Jedi in our minds forever. Or, ever worse than that, they would like to continually shit all over actors like Sebastian Shaw (the original Anakin we see all blue and glowy and the end of RotJ) and Jeremy Bulloch (the original Boba Fett, before we knew he was a clone and therefor had to sound like, Temuera Morrison). Come on guys, can’t we watch the films the way we did in our childhood? I guess you can if you’re lucky enough to own some old VHS copies and a working VCR. Warning though, two decade old tapes tend to look mighty shitty on your 50-inch, plasma television. Just sayin’.
For the whole list of special features click the jump. Also beyond the jump is a list of more Star Wars stuff you need to ensure you’ll have the best Star Wars Day of your life. Well, at least a Star Wars Day where you’ve bought a lot of cool crap.
