It looks like we may be seeing some more of the vampire Lestat! According to The Hollywood Reporter:
Brian Grazer and Ron Howard’s Imagine Entertainment has optioned the rights to Anne Rice’s Tale of the Body Thief, the fourth book of Rice’s best-selling book series The Vampire Chronicles.
The script for this film will be written by Lee Paterson, and the movie will be produced by Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci.
I don’t know how well this book fared with the critics, but I thought the story of Lestat swapping bodies with a psychic and experiencing human life was a fuckin’ crapshoot. For those of you who don’t know, Rice had a moment of clarity or some shit and became a devout Christian at some point in the middle of The Vampire Chronicles. This is why you don’t find anything awesome when you look through the books she published during that period of her life.
Two different actors have played Lestat in the past: Tom Cruise and Stuart Townsend. It doesn’t seem like either of them will be taking up the role again should this movie actually happen. We’ll just have to see which sucker decides to throw himself into this mess.
