In terms of new character debuts in pre-established movies, they didn’t come much smoother than when Chadwick Boseman took to the screen in Captain America: Civil War. Between Boseman as Black Panther and Tom Holland as Spider-Man they quite nearly upstaged with the two main characters, including the titular hero of the piece. So now that we know that Black Panther is ready for his own solo debut, the question must be asked, which characters will support this new hero in his self-titled adventure? Word is making the Internet rounds that Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o (12 Years A Slave) is in talks to join director Ryan Coogler‘s (Creed) Black Panther movie. Marvel introduced T’Challa played by Chadwick Boseman (42, Get On Up), as the Black Panther in the hugely successful Russo brothers movie Captain America: Civil War. (more…)
It was this time last year that we got our first look at Star Wars: The Force Awakens. That teaser was a minute-and-a-half long and featured only seven shots, but there was also a mysterious voiceover that we’ve since learned was spoken by Supreme Leader Snoke (Andy Serkis), “There has been an awakening. Have you felt it?” Now, almost exactly one year later, we get an answer as to who Snoke was talking to. It seems like we’re getting new footage by the day in 30-second or one minute increments, but for the first time, it seems like the new normal of the Dark Side is getting the spotlight in a TV ad. There has been an awakening… of a whole ton of Star Wars The Force Awakens news. After just coming off The 6 Cool Things We Learned About The Force Awakens, there is even more revelations and pseudo spoilers abound.
In the last 48 hours, Andy Serkis has come out and shed some light on his character, the mysterious Supreme Leader Snoke. And new details regarding ‘s character Maz Kanata have emerged.
The thing about these actors, crew, or anyone from production for that matter, is they talk just enough to not spoil anything; saying just enough to generate buzz around their characters and the movie. If you want a little light shed on these mystery characters, then get your fill after the jump.

Unless they were in the first three Star Wars movies, we have no idea who anyone in the Star Wars Episode VII cast is playing in the film. Until the day comes that someone at Disney and/or Lucasfilm decides to let us in on the secret, we’re going to have to rely on rumor and intuition to guess who’s playing who in the film. But today’s bit of speculation seems to hint at the idea that one of the film’s new female cast members: Daisy Ridley, Gwendoline Christie and Lupita Nyong’o, is playing a villainess in Episode VII. While you were scanning those recent set pics, JJ Abrams & Co. committed a casting coup right under your nose. As if attempting to answer the overwhelming cries for ‘more diversity’ amongst the cast, Episode Seven added Academy Award Winner Lupita Nyong’o and Game of Thrones series regular Gwendoline Christie (a/k/a Brienne of Tarth) to the already impressive cast. Yesterday’s cast announcement for Star Wars: Episode VII brought on a lot of excitement but it also brought a lot of shaking heads and questions. Most importantly, why was there only one new female character (played by Daisy Ridley) and a plethora of male characters? Why didn’t J.J. Abrams and his team come up with more parts for women?
Well, maybe they did. But will it be enough?
If you’ve been paying attention (and actually care), you may know that there are two new live-action Jungle Book movies in the making right now. One is being put together by Warner Bros. and the other by the almighty owner-of-everything, Disney. This news involves the Disney flick – The Jungle Book (the other one is minus the “the” in the title). The movie will be directed by Jon Favreau and has already cast the ever-in-demand Idris Elba and now it looks like two new big-name stars might be jumping on board – Scarlett Johansson and Academy Award-winner Lupita Nyong’o.
