Psych, is an American comedy/drama mystery television series, about a man who works for the Santa Barbra Police Department as their resident psychic. The only hitch is that Shawn Spence (James Roday) isn’t really a psychic, he just relies on his highly tuned sense of observation to solve mysteries. With his best friend Burton “Gus” Guster (Dule Hill) and his father Henry (Corbin Bernson) the series has lasted into it’s 6th season, keen senses and all. It’s one of my favorite shows! It somehow combines youthful thirty-ish banter between buddies with Monk-ish sleuthing. The witty jokes, sharp dialog and endless obscure 80′s references make it a real delight.

Before I get to talking about Psych, I must apologize to all you fans waiting on Comic-Con coverage from Mrs. Nerd Bastards and I. I’m not one for excuses, but holyshit were we unprepared for today. I was stuck in Ballroom 20 all day listening to every panel in the room. I had to or else I would have to go to the back of the line outside. There was a line of 5000+ waiting to get into the ballroom for anyone of the panels. Only by staying in my seat did I lay claim to the panels of interest, those being Psych,Game of Thrones and Dexter. I had to sit thru Burn Notice: Fall of Sam Axe (which seeing Bruce Campbell is always a pleasure), Covert Affairs (ugh), Ringer (blah), and TV Guide’s Fan Choice (Matt Smith/Doctor Who was on this panel, so at least that was MINT). Being stuck in this room prevented me from reporting other matters. Like FOX’s presentation of Prometheus with Ridley Scott and the Napoleon Dynamite Animated Series. Or, Mike Judge’s presentation of the premier of Beavis and Butthead. In addition, my lap top died. No computer, no reporting. Only now that I am back in my hotel can I sit back and bring to you a play-by-play of the some of the cons most anticipated panels.

So, Psych comes back to Comic-Con. Their 3rd year. What goes down? Well, stories and laughs from the whole cast and it’s creators (James Roday– Sean Spencer, Dulé Hill– Burton Guster, Timothy Omundson– Detective Lassiter, Maggie Lawson– Juliet, Corbin Bernsen– Henry Spencer, Kirsten Nelson– Cheif Vick, Kurt Fuller– Woody the coroner and Steve Franks– creator and executive producer, Chris Henze– exec. producer and Kelly Kulchak– exec. producer) …and pineapples of course.
CLICK ON THRU for a transcribed, word-for-word account of the 2011 Psych panel. *Note: this panel took place on Thurs 7/21 at 12:30. Sorry for the delay. Also, I think this may may be my last full on transcription. It takes too much time and I dunno if you even care to read it all anyway. Do you like it this way, or would you be cool with just an overview?
Lake Bell ( What Happens in Vegas, It’s Complicated, No Strings Attached) has recently spoken out about the fact that she’d like to play a superhero one day, specifically Wonder Woman. So what exactly is the deal with a recent string of female celebs wanting to play Wonder Woman?? Everyone from Jennifer Love-Hewitt to Beyonce Knowles have expressed interest in the show being brought to us by David E. Kelley. Personally I think it should beMaggie Lawson!
Well if self confidence bordering cockiness is the quality of a superhero then Bell’s got it down! This is what she recently had to say to E!:
“I got the guns! With superheroes you have to have this tickle of humor in there and you have to be a really great actor and also kick ass. And I’m fine with kicking a guy’s ass.”
Then Bell makes her pitch: “I’ll be honest, I think I’d make a great Wonder Woman. So if anyone out there is listening … “
I mean I like Bell and all and thinks that she is super funny, but maybe not a superhero.
The reason Bell as well as many of the other actresses mentioned are so intent of being part of the new Wonder Woman reboot is that is was recently picked up by NBC and will most likely be directed by none other than McG who is favored to take the directing reigns. TVLine stated:
“McG has emerged as the odds-on favorite to direct the pilot for NBC’s much-hyped Wonder Woman remake.”
The show is being described as,
A reinvention of the iconic D.C. comic in which Wonder Woman — aka Diana Prince — is a vigilante crime fighter in L.A. but also a successful corporate executive and a modern woman trying to balance all of the elements of her extraordinary life.
I loved McG’s Charlie’s Angels so it would be cool if he could repeat that magic, but I just see Wonder Woman being a hard thing to remake and have it appeal to the masses. It’s easy to picture Wonder Woman as part of an ensemble cast like The Justice League where it’s not her sole responsibility to carry a film/or television series.
What do you guys think about trying to revive a classic like Wonder Woman?? It just doesn’t seem to fit like a lot of the other superhero movies coming our way.
Did I ever tell you how much I hate Wonder Woman? She doesn’t have great villains, she doesn’t have any memorable solo story lines and she just isn’t interesting. She’s nothing but a feminist underwear model with super powers. Yawn! Now, change Wonder Woman into a smoking, douche, whore of a woman and then we can talk. What? Someone went an did that? Well fuck me sideways, where? Ahhh, FunnyorDie.com you are a mistress of mayhem. I love you. So, ya our friends at Funny or Die (who haven’t been that funny as of late) have made my nerd dreams come true. In their latest video, referred to as ” A Date With Diana”, it depicts a very sleazy, horny, bitchy Wonder Woman with crabs. Fucking Amen *wipes tear from eye*. It’s highly inappropriate and totally not safe for work (or the sweet innocent ears of children), but all too funny. Oh, and it stars Maggie Lawson from ‘Psych’ (best show ever!). This gives me all the more reason to wanna tongue punch her fart box.
