making of

Look at that headline. That’s writing right there, folks.

Since it doesn’t seem like we’re going to get that proposed Hellraiser reboot anytime soon (not to mention the Scarlet Gospels Clive Barker’s been teasing for years), fans of the series thankfully have a new documentary to look forward to. Titled Leviathan (which I totally love), the film chronicles the conception of both Hellraiser and Hellbound, promising us an in-depth look at Barker’s famed S&M obsessed demons.

When Game of Thrones returns next year (March 31st) expect to get a whole lot more than in previous seasons. HBO‘s hit drama based on George R.R. Martin‘s A Song of Ice and Fire book series is getting, basically, an episode’s worth of extra material! How, you ask? Well, each episode is expected to clock in a run time close to 56 or 57 minutes as opposed to the usual 52 minutes. Add that up for 10 episodes and that’s over 40 minutes of more Thrones. Plus, take into account the Season 3 finale will be over an hour long and you’re looking at, basically, an episode’s worth of extra material. Awesome!

Showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss spoke with Entertainment Weekly about how they managed to pack in more for this season of Game of Thrones,

“There’s almost another full episode’s worth of extra minutes spread across the season,” Weiss says. “One of the great liberties with HBO is we’re not forced to come in at a specific time. We can’t be under 50 minutes or over 60, but that gives us a lot of flexibility.

“A super-sized season, as befitting Storm of Swords,” Benioff adds. “Last year we had a lot of 52-minute episodes. This year is a lot of 56, 57.”

“So for people clamoring for another episode, it’s in there,” Weiss says. “It’s just been cut into tiny pieces.”

Considering A Storm of Swords is the longest book of the series and it’s already being covered over two season instead of one, the news we’re getting even more is fantastic.

Only 103 days to go!

Oh! And to sweeten today’s news there’s been another ‘making of’ video released which shares more about Season 3, focusing on the art direction. Check it out,

Above you can see the first teaser poster released for the second season of Game of Thrones. The design isn’t super exciting, but it in no way dampens my excitement for the show’s return. And yes, war is coming and I’m anticipating it will blow our minds.

For proof of the epic scale and grandeur HBO is hoping to achieve this season check out the latest behind-the-scenes, making-of video they’ve released. This one follows Jon Snow (Kit Harington) and the men of the Night’s Watch as they travel north of the wall. Or as we call it on Earth, Iceland.

Damn. That looks cold.

Something about Game of Thrones I think is just awesome is how real the whole world feels. Yes, it’s a fantasy novel and yes these places don’t really exist, but they ways George R.R. Martin described them and the way to crew of HBO’s series have recreated them, it’s astounding.

Game of Thrones returns April 1st.

That’s right, ladies. Vader’s got himself a whole new, sexy, ride. Forget those TIE fighters, it’s an Ariel Atom high performance sports car all the way. (Geek Tyrant)
