It’s pretty rare for an actor to catch up with a character 25 years after the fact, but it seems like Kyle MacLachlan is game for some more Twin Peaks, and has signed on the dotted line to take part in the 9-part continuation of the series. MacLachlan is the first of the original cast to sign-up for the new season, which will begin shooting sometime later this year, but according to the powers that be, it’s unlikely that he will be the last. MacLachlan was the star of the original Twin Peaks, which ran on ABC for two season in 1991 and 1992, and given where the series left his character, FBI Agent Dale Cooper, I have no idea where this will lead us. But I have a definite feeling it will be a place both wonderful and strange. (more…)

There have been rumors, and rumors of rumors for days now, but now it’s been confirmed, Twin Peaks is coming back to TV. The announcement was made official today by series co-creator David Lynch, who will return to run the new series with Mark Frost for a nine-episode continuation of Twin Peaks, which will premiere in 2016 on the cable channel Showcase. Not many details are known yet in terms of storylines or original actors returning, but as the prototypical cult series of the 90s, the return of Twin Peaks and its town full of quirky characters, there will be more than a few people today raising a damn fine cup of coffee and a damn good slice of pie to new episodes of one of the all time greats.
