Mash-up

Star Wars Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band

Like peanut butter and bacon or Taylor Swift’s “Shake It Off” on the radio while you’re stuck in traffic, there are things in the universe that you don’t know are awesome until you randomly come across them. Palette-Swap Ninja‘s “Princess Leia’s Stolen Death Star Plans.” This is one of those things.

Welcome to your new ear worm because the duo behind Palette-Swap Ninja ( on twitter) has combined two classics, that is the epic Bee Gees Beatles* album Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band and little known indie/art film Star Wars** into one master stroke of musical mash-up genius! Check the full album out in this easy to use YouTube playlist: (more…)

Captain-America-The-Winter-Soldier-Spoilers

When the trailer for Captain America: The First Avenger came out, some enterprising video fan set it to the theme song from Team America: World Police, and it worked. Beautifully. There’s something about the Captain America movies that seem to make it infinitely remixable, and so its been done again with this new video that turns the sequel Captain America: The Winter Soldier into a product from another time. There was a lot of talk during the film’s production and release that The Winter Soldier was akin to political thrillers of the 1970s, but how does the Marvel sequel look as a cheesy action movie from the 1980s? Your answer is below. (more…)

It’s the meet-up that launched a thousand fan-fics and now it’s kinda, sorta real. What happens when the TARDIS lands in front of 221 B Baker Street? What happens when two of the fiercest minds of British TV come face to face? What will it be like when Sherlock (Benedict Cumberbatch) and The Doctor (Matt Smith) meet and head off into the universe together? Some very enterprising video producers have put together what they think that would look like. And warning, this is very SFW, so none of your potential fan-fic fantasies come true. (more…)

ABOVE: 500 lb life size Darth Vader Cake. He was served at the 501st Legion Banquet on Friday night as part of the Star Wars Celebration VI event. Also of note is Vader’s light saber, which was a single, solid piece of watermelon flavored poured sugar. Impressive. [OakleadCakes]

The Interwebz, where nerd art runs wild. Oh, and they draw a lot too. Some times nerd art takes dark unspeakable forms, such as the day the black plague hit Equestria, oh the ponimanity. Other times it’s exactly what it should be. Yes, It’s time for a Nerd Art Dump.

ABOVE: By now millions of gamers are in the midst of this exact sight, after hours of playing Blizzard‘s Diablo 3 on their computers they and their room are wrecked. Since seeing a drawing of a sweating male gamer would make you pry your eyes out, we opted for the safer, more feminine version. [The Smiling Sam]

‘My Little Pony’ Does ‘Star Wars’

Perhaps we just won’t ask questions and enjoy the awesomeness of the melding of My Little Pony and Star Wars. It looks like it’s from the same people behind the Call of Duty My Little Pony, but don’t take me to court on that.

Now I don’t know My Little Pony from Your Little Pony, but if you don’t laugh at the messed up Greedo pony then I feel sorry for you. And George Lucas, if Pony Solo can fire first, why can’t Han? Think about it.

The Wicker Man a classic British horror movie from 1973 that recently (ok, 6 years ago) was remade into a Nicholas Cage unwatchable pile of drek. Which was a shame. To save it from a fate of being all Nic Caged, cartoonist Paul O’Connell did the only thing that had a chance to wipe that stain away, he remade it in comic form (which you can read here) with The Muppets. Ok, I don’t know if that was his actual intent but let’s run with that anyway.

Now, if reading isn’t you’re thing, he’s recently cut into a trailer which you can watch after the jump, but really, read the comic. It’s insane, it’s bizarre, and it is in noway associated with Nicholas Cage. It’s win/win really.

Above: The Skywalker Coat of Arms. Available as a shirt, here. But, umm, isn’t there like, somebody missing? Or was the Death Star really Darth Vader’s true love and I’ve been missing the clues?(Fashionably Geek)

Perfect, perfect, perfect! I am in love with how well this trailer mash-up works. As a child raised through the 90s, how could I not be a huge fan of both The Lion King and Batman (due to the celebrated animated series). Mashing the Disney classic with the audio from The Dark Knight Rises is genius work. (The Mary Sue)

Would you like to watch the awesome lobby shootout scene from The Matrix synced with “Mambo #5?” Of course you do. In fact, I’m surprised how well these two mesh together. The Youtuber claims no editing was involved to make it work, so if we take him at his word, this is almost spooky. (TDW: Geek)
