Contrary to popular belief, the first four Transformers movies had scripts. I know, I know, sounds unlikely. It’s like ancient aliens, Nessie and an honest politician, a rumor too impossible to be believed. However, with the notably exception of Revenge of the Fallen, which was mostly plotted through pre-visualization thanks to the 2007-08 Writers Strike, every Transformers movie has begun with a script. Well now they’re going to begin with a team of writers deciding on a story for that script. As per recent reporting, Paramount Pictures has put Akiva Goldsman in charge to oversee a writers room for all upcoming Transformers movies, and some familiar names are amongst the first roster of Transformers’ writing staff. Ok, so a film based on (read: bought the rights to the name of) the iconic Hot Wheels line of toys is apparently a thing….Because Battleship clearly demonstrated how good an idea making a movie based on toys with no inherent story line is.

Legendary Pictures has signed former stuntman Simon Crane to direct the film from a script by Iron Man writers Art Marcum and Matt Holloway. (more…)

The news that a reboot for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was met with mixed reactions ranging from joy to fear:

Joy –Oh boy, they’re bringing back the Turtles to the big screen!”

Fear – “Oh boy . . . they’re bringing back the Turtles to the big screen . . .”

With a release date of Christmas Day 2013, fans are hoping for a TNMT Christmas present that won’t feel like they just got a bag of coal.

Platinum Dunes’ Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles announcement this weekend is sure to set forums blazing with comments from TMNT fans everywhere.

TMNT reboot Producer Michael Bay, hints that the turtles may not be mutants at all.

?!?WHAT?!?

Are they still teenagers?

Wait . . . they must still be turtles though . . .

“When you see this movie, kids are going to believe, one day, that these turtles actually do exist when we are done with this movie. These turtles are from an alien race and they are going to be tough, edgy, funny and completely lovable.”

Jonathan Liebesman will direct and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will feature a script from Josh Appelbaum, Andrew Nemec, Art Marcum, Matt Holloway and John Fusco.
