If there’s one thing I can say about 2011, it’s that I enjoy the fact that Mortal Kombat is awesome again!
To capitalize on that awesomness, Jazwares is releasing their newest line of figures. Series 1 will feature the 2 ninjas, Scorpion and Sub-Zero, the thunder-god Raiden, and now rocking MMA-esque tats, Johnny Cage. Jazwares is also producing 3.75″ figures, and 6″ series 1 figures. Each figure will feature over 15 points of articulation and a few of them will include a few extra goodies for the figure.
I love how the figures look, and even though they aren’t equipped with any fatality action grips they’ll be still look good on any shelf. Click the jump button to check out the other figures and tell us who you would like to see in their next line.
Finally, for those of us that don’t usually play fighting games anymore, we now have a reason to get back into the realm of punches and kicks that actually mean something, violence. The game that made mother’s pull their children away from the arcades and replace any with a C to a K is back. Mortal Kombat 9 or just Mortal Kombat has hit the demo circuit for consoles everywhere and it isn’t disappointing anyone right now (check out Luke Gallagher’s PAX EAST 2011 Recap). When you grow up on character’s like Sub-Zero, Milenna, Liu Kangit’s something stays in your mind. The game isn’t officially on sale till April but it’s well worth it to get your practice in now because with fatalities making a comeback it’d be a shame if you didn’t get prepared.
(Warning the following video is rated NSFW, as in your not 18 you shouldn’t be watching this.)
Test Your Might.
When you’re showing off moves that cover the player’s character in blood it’s simply a treat. As soon as you hear the all so familiar “Fatality” voice it all comes back to you, hours of practice and defeat. So get downloading and start trying out Mortal Kombat today, because it’s just humiliating to watch your ass get beat with your actual ass (not a real move).
Mortal Kombat, on sale for X-box 360 and PS3 April 19th in North America and April 21st in Europe.
Give me a P. Give me an A. Give me an X. What does that spell? PAX…you dyslexic sucka duck! YES, the much-anticipated, annual, nerdfest PAX East (a la Penny Arcade) in Boston came, went and totally took advantage of the prime real estate that is my body. I need a breath mint, deodorant and massage from a small Vietnamese woman with mighty – yet gentle- hands (and is up for expected happy ending). For those of you scratching your heads wondering what the hell is PAX East?! First, I’d like to slap you upside the head for being an ignorant douche-canoe. This is our culture. How do you not know about this?!?! OK, here’s a quick run-through: PAX East, is like a smaller E3, but intended for consumers rather than developers. See, they get a bunch of video game hot shots to show off their hardware, software and um…in some cases hot chicks in tall boots
"These boots are made for walking, and that's just what they'll do, one of these days these boots are gonna walk all over you."
Then, they invite the public to hang out and fall in love with all kinds of the latest, greatest gear and games on (or about to enter) the video game scene. Attendees can play games, attend panel sessions about all kinds of cool stuff, see live music and even compete in video game tournaments! Exciting, right? YES! Especially if you like shiny bags of SWAG, the occasional hot chick in costume, new technology, and inspiring speeches.
So now you have a pretty solid idea of what goes on in general. What might not be entirely clear to you is the feeling of “home”. *cue the violin for sappy time* Let’s face it, we as gamers are strange and weird. We typically don’t mesh well with the world outside our own. The acceptance in ordinary society is growing quite rapidly, but how many people in your life truly appreciate and understand your pleasure, your obsession, your escape? While we’re predominantlyhaving too much fun to care, wouldn’t it be nice to be embraced by a collective mutuality? After all, you know gamer friends are the perfect circle of people you always want to hang out with. Why not a sea of thousands, all singing to the tune of “Let’s Play”? Simply put, PAX is your haven. Your heaven. Your home.
Its only Tuesday and we got some news from the video game world that may interest some of you gaming bastards. First off, we got two news bits on Capcom’s Marvel vs. Capcom 3. With the game set to release later this month, a lot of videos and pics are sure to show up on the net and recently, the internet provided us on whom the final boss is. It is none other than the Devourer of Worlds, Galactus.
Shouldn’t be a surprise to past gamers that know how Capcom loves to throw in giant final bosses just to fuck with us. Check the video of Galactus in action out after the jump.
The other news bit for the upcoming fighting game is that it seems the game will have a voice option that is similar from Street Fighter IV, which should make some of you vocal elitist happy.
If you’ve been following the upcoming Mortal Kombat game, then you probably already know about the X-ray Attacks. When a character performs a certain attack, we see a close up x-ray look on how damaging and painful the attack was towards your opponent. IGN got a highlight video on the whole x-ray attack that is worth checking out (available after the jump). Personally, it gives the franchise another way to portray how awesome and gory it can be.
Lastly, it seems that Microsoft has went on to purchase the domain name of KinectHalo.com While it shouldn’t be a surprise that Microsoft would want a Kinect game based on one of their biggest franchise. Who knows what type of game or what type of movements players will do but I’m sure 343 Industries will figure something out or else fanboys will start a fucking riot about it… on the internet.
When will folks learn that when you make a website for a video game and have “hidden things” on that site, it’ll get hacked and leaked to the audience. That was the case for the upcoming 2011 Mortal Kombat 9 game as the site had voice samples of possible characters that may be in game.
The video below has those voice samples and these were the characters that were revealed: Goro, Quan Chi, Stryker, Noob Saibot, Sindel, Kabal, Shao Khan, Smoke, Shang Tsung and Ermac.
The other big news is that God of War’sKratos is guest appearing on the PS3 version of the game. While he may be playable with his own move set, he will not be playable in the story mode. Now folks are left wondering who would appear for the 360 version, with Master Chief and Marcus Fenix being heavily rumored. David Jaffe, the man that brought us Kratos and the first God of War game had this to say on Twitter:
Dude Kratos would have a FUCKALITY and fuck the SHIT out of Sonya AND Katana at the same motherfucking TIME!!!! 🙂
What do y’all think of this? Any of y’all excited for this game or is Mortal Kombat too old for you? Also, what do you think of a playable Kratos and who do you want to see on the 360 side of the game? Tell us by leaving a comment.
Mortal Kombat!!! Cue techno song. I’ve been a fan of the franchise since the Genesis days and knowing that the 9th game will be going back to it’s roots, just makes me a happy fat boy. In the video, we get co-creator Ed Boon talking about the history of the franchise and how they are changing things up for the new game. He admits that Mortal Kombat has had it’s bad moments but it seems that he and the crew are trying to make a legit fighting game this time around.
All I know is that spring, 2011 can’t come any sooner as I’m excited about the new fatalities, the X-ray focus moves, and the new story that is suppose to change the history of MK 1 to MK 3. How about you guys? Any of y’all excited about the game and if so, leave a comment on how you feel about the upcoming game.
