The trio that made up the “build team” on the hit show, Mythbusters, are getting their own Netflix show. About 2 years ago, the team which, consisted of Grant Imahara, Kari Byron, and Tori Belleci, suddenly and unexpectedly announced that they would be leaving the show. Little did anyone know that Mythbusters would only be around for one more season following their departure. Now the quirky build team will make a triumphant return with their own show.
Netflix has revealed the White Rabbit Project trailer for their new science series from the producers of MythBusters, which will debut all episodes on the streaming service December 9.
You’ve heard of a TED Talk, right? But what is that exactly? A TED Talk is a video created from a presentation at the main TED conference. TED began in 1984 as a conference where Technology, Entertainment and Design converged, and today covers almost all topics — from science to business to global issues. Basically, smart people talking smartly about smarty things. With over 2,000 TED Talks from remarkable people, from tech, science, and technology would you have ever expected Mythbuster’s Adam Savage as a Key Speaker talking about his love for Cosplay? Well, he did, and it’s pretty remarkable. (more…)
There was a five year break between Spider-Men from Spider-Man 3 to The Amazing Spider-Man, then there was a four year break between Batmen from The Dark Knight Rises to Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice, but they’re setting a new record for reboots by launching a new MythBusters. Yes, less than a month after the final episode of the popular Discovery Channel series ended, and brought to a close 15 seasons of myth-busting, the imagination-less people that run TV are looking to put together a relaunch. On top of that, they’re going to choose the hosts through another move that demonstrates an astounding lack or originality: a reality show. (more…)
After almost 250 episodes and a slew of “what ifs” debunked, Discovery’s super-cool TV show MythBusters will go off the air after its upcoming 14th season. Show co-hosts Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman, now pop-culture staples themselves, made the decision in conjunction with the network to wrap the show in 2016.
It’s safe to say that most everyone loves Mythbusters. Hosts Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman bust myths, tall tales, misconceptions, and internet viral videos; all in the name of science and discovery. Really, though, they just get a chance to do all sorts of cool shit with high explosives, firearms, and vehicles normal humans would never be allowed to.
Now, take what Adam and Jamie do for a living and imagine that was just a front – that the dynamic duo were actually secret spies for the government using their skills for covert ops. What a silly thought, right? Except its not.
CBS has announced it is developing a new spy drama based on the professional exploits of Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman. Oh, boy. (more…)
Over the last few years, it’s become more and more “cool” for celebrities to want to walk the floor of the San Diego Comic Con “incognito,” where they don some type of costume that obscures their face, so they can “be among the people” or some such. But there is one TV personality that’s been traipsing the aisles of the convention every year for quite a while now: MythBusters front-man Adam Savage! The guy loves costumes and building props, and in many past years he has cosplayed as various astronaut characters, including real-life versions (a painstakingly-recreated Mercury outfit) and fictitious ones (he’s got a great Nostromo uniform from the Alien film series). This year, to try and throw suspicious fans off of his trail, he decided to make his journey with a friend – none other than real-life astronaut Chris Hadfield!
Adam Savage from Mythbusters is know for going all out at Halloween with his costumes and this year was not an exception. His proton pack just goes to show that ‘he wasn’t afraid of no ghosts this Halloween. We have come to expect this kind of quality craftsmanship from Savage now, who has previously dressed up in Samurai armor, Alien suits and all sorts of crazy costumes that focus on every bit of infinitesimal detail. In honor of the film’s 30th anniversary Savage had ample opportunity to show of his fantastic Proton pack from within the maker’s San Francisco man cave. (more…)
The new TV season begins in a couple of weeks, which is typically a time of excitement for fans, but if you love the Discovery Channel‘s Mythbusters, you may now have reason to be suspicious about the show’s return. Under a blanket of proverbial fog last night, the cable network announced that the M7 build team – Grant Imahara, Kari Byron and Tory Belleci – were suddenly departing from the show. Suffice to say that the M7 trio are a huge part of the show’s success for the last decade, but when you dump news on a Thursday night in August, it’s going to make people wonder: why is Discovery ditching Grant, Kari and Tory? (more…)
MythBusters has been on for what seems like forever. Going on 12 seasons, I don’t think anyone is getting tired of it. As if an eyeful of Kari Byron, chuckling at Adam Savage’s antics and being memorized by Jamie Hyneman’s magnificent mustache wasn’t enough, there is all that science and explosiony stuff they do that keeps the show churning. And with a new trailer promoting the shows return, there’s still a whole lot of mythbustin’ and theatrical science left to see. Including a Star Wars special and a very different looking Kari Byron who seems to be hiding the droids we’re looking for in her shirt (1 minute mark).

ABOVE: Nerd Bastards has it’s very own beer. Unfortunately, this isn’t for purchase. It’s just something I brewed here locally in Boston, MA and had our very own Jeremy Hudson whip up the sweet label you see. Bitch’n Bespin Brau is a Saison style beer, which is a french farmhouse inspired brew. It’s rebellious, yet FORCEful. Maybe we’ll have to organize a fan meet-up so that y’all can try it.
