It’s summertime! That means the kids are out of school, vacations are happening, cookouts, family reunions, and pool parties! But that also means blistering heat, sunburns, and of course being forced to interact with other human beings. What better way to combat the downsides of summer than to kick back with a snack and something cold to drink and binge watch some tv??? Netflix to the rescue! While Marvel has become the summer blockbuster overlord when it comes to films, the company had begun to lose steam on its Netflix series front. Daredevil season 1 and 2 and the first season of Jessica Jones were wild hits, but things seemed to stagnate from there. Luke Cage, first seen on Jessica Jones, received lukewarm reviews on his own series and Iron Fist was relatively panned by critics and fans alike. The Defenders brought things back up, but things from there (The Punisher, Jessica Jones season 2) have wavered in that gray area of “good, but kinda slow and forgettable”.

Then Luke Cage season 2 releases on Netflix and the whole game is changed again.  (more…)

The long winter that is Game of Thrones‘ hiatus is upon us, and it’s only getting colder, guys. While there is some comfort in re-watching old episodes — “Battle of the Bastards” is an actual masterpiece — it’s also nice to tune in to something brand new that’s capable of getting you just as hyped as the action in Westeros does. There are quite a few shows out there that are perfect for Game of Thrones fans (think Rome, Vikings, and the early seasons of The Walking Dead), but most of them have been around so long that you’ve probably already seen them.

Your favorite show is going to be canceled. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but nothing on TV, Netflix, Amazon, or Hulu can last forever. Everything is destined to end at some point. Well, except maybe The Price Is Right, but that show has earned its immortality. For fans of The Expanse, judgement day came when Syfy announced on May 11th that they were canceling the show after the conclusion of its 3rd season. Fans were devastated. Petitions have circulated, banners have flown, and the fans are determined to cancel the cancellation. With rumors and speculation abound, The Expanse remains canceled at the time of this writing (though Amazon is heavily rumored to be picking it up).

Win, lose, or draw, the show has earned a loyal following for several reasons. Strap in and get ready for the juice, as we take a look at why The Expanse deserves to be saved.

Netflix

Netflix has announced that it has ordered Season 3 of Marvel’s Jessica Jones just a month after Season 2 was released.
