DC Comics is doing its best to play catch-up in the world of “cinematic superhero shared universes” (try saying that tongue-twister three times fast). In 2016 we’ll be seeing two films from the comic company: August gives us the “bad guy team-up tale” Suicide Squad and March brings Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, where audiences will get their first looks at the big-screen versions of Aquaman, the “new” Affleck Batman, and Wonder Woman. Due in 2017 is a solo outing for Wonder Woman – and thanks to a new DC TV special, we now have our first footage from the film. (more…)
While it won’t be connected to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the forthcoming Guardians of the Galaxy cartoon series shows plenty of promise. Being shown on Disney XD, the “official” premiere date is Saturday, September 26, with back-to-back episodes, but the swell folks at Disney have chosen to give viewers a sneak peek by showing the first episode on Saturday, September 5. The show should serve well to hold fans over until the next big-screen iteration of the team graces our presence in 2017. Check out the teaser video here, with the plot synopsis for the first two episodes included below!
Is it June 14th yet? With Iron Man 3 opening wide tonight, it seems that all eyes are now on the next big superhero effort, Man of Steel. The below TV spot features, by my calculation, about 85 to 90 per cent new footage, include a shot of Superman (Henry Cavill) looking pissed, or constipated, or something… But hey, this film just keeps looking better and better. Fingers crossed it doesn’t turn into a world-crushing disappointment.

Finally, for those of us who abstained from the MTV Movie Awards, the 90 second preview for The Dark Knight Rises featuring new footage has been released online.
With less than a month to go I’ve given up on attempting to piece together what’s happening in these trailers, teases, and clips. I let them play and I bask in teh epic. I’m sure no matter what Christopher Nolan has lined up quite the show for us. We’ll be shocked. We’ll be wowed. Hopefully, we’ll be satisified with his ending.
The Dark Knight Rises opens July 20th. Of everything that may or may not be happening in TDKR, what are you most excited to see?
Another day, another new trailer featuring new footage from one of this summer’s many blockbuster hopefuls. Here we’ve got the latest trailer for Prometheus from Ridley Scott. This Alien-prequel is probably the most buzzed about movie releasing this summer not starring a cast of superheroes. Give the newest international trailer a watch below.
Oh right, did I mention it was in Russian. Sorry ’bout that. But, y’know what? The Russian dialogue gives the movie an even creepier feel. I’m really hoping Prometheus captures the same frightening atmosphere we get with Alien. There hasn’t been a good, spooky space movie for some time. Maybe not since Moon, which due to its low budget had a very Alien-feel, stylistically.
Prometheus opens nationwide on June 8th.
Ridley Scott, director of ‘Alien’ and ‘Blade Runner,’ returns to the genre he helped define. With ‘Prometheus’, he creates a groundbreaking mythology, in which a team of explorers discover a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth, leading them on a thrilling journey to the darkest corners of the universe. There, they must fight a terrifying battle to save the future of the human race.
Noomi Rapace as Elizabeth Shaw, Michael Fassbender as David, Guy Pearce as Stannison, Idris Elba as Captain Janek, Logan Marshall-Green as Holloway, Charlize Theron as Meredith Vickers.
Coming from Disney‘s French Youtube channel is the first of what I’m suspecting will be many, “Brave Stories” featurettes. It’s a primer for Pixar’s next film and in particular the leading lady, Merida. The video also contains new footage with plenty shots of Merida’s beautiful, bushy and bouncy red hair.
This film can’t release soon enough! Stay tuned as more clips and short featurettes will surely be shared in the coming weeks leading up to Brave‘s June 22nd release date.
