The Disney brand has already come out strong this year.  With the Star Wars franchise breaking records, and a full slate of Marvel movies coming this summer, in addition to some fan-favorite tv shows, the Mouse House seems to have its hands full.  Or so one would think.  But more is coming.  Between Marvel shows such as Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Jessica Jones, it may be surprising to hear that another story within the Marvel Universe could be coming to the small screen soon.  After some on and off again rumors last year surrounding an Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. spinoff, it seems ABC has finally made up its mind.  A pilot episode has been ordered for the new original show titled Marvel’s Most Wanted, starring (more…)

Agents-of-SHIELD-Season-3

When last we left Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., a war between S.H.I.E.L.D. and the Inhumans was averted, but not before a few Terrigen crystals fell into the ocean, were ingested by fish that were then taken from the sea by fisherman and turned into a variety of fish products. I wonder what happens now? If you said random people emerging with Inhuman powers, you’re either a genius, or you’ve see the first five minutes of the season premiere of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. The new season begins in full this coming Tuesday, but Marvel and ABC have released a pretty effective teaser for the season premiere. (more…)

Last spring, as the networks were preparing their fall shows, there was an announcement that ABC was working on a spin-off for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. that would focus on the Moonlighting-esque solo adventures of Bobbi ‘Mockingbird’ Morse (Adrianne Palicki) and Lance Hunter (Nick Blood). When the fall schedule was announced, this new show was not a part of it, and it was widely assumed that the renewal of Agent Carter might have had something to so with that. But since everything old is new again in Hollywood, it sounds like the spin-off is back on, only don’t call it a spin-off. It’s a continuation of their story, you see. (more…)

It’s that time of year when fans learn whether their investment in a year’s worth of a TV show will pay off in a second season or whether it was time well wasted. TV upfronts are next week, the annual announcement by the networks of what they’ll be showing next year and on what day of the week you’ll be able to watch it, but since news goes better in several doses and not just a single big dose, we’re getting some early renewal and cancellation notices going into the weekend. ABC, for instance, has been playing its cards pretty close to the chest, but Marvel fans can breath easier today because not only will Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. be back next year, but so will Agent Carter. The second season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has been so much improved over the first season that we barely even noticed that a fairly important player from that initial series has been missing and largely unmentioned in the first 15 episodes of year two. That all changed last night when Director Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) and Lance Hunter (Nick Blood) found themselves in a jam and were forced to ask an old friend for help. The secret was kept pretty good, and we’ll keep it till after the jump just in case you haven’t watched the episode yet, but for fans of the Joss Whedon repertoire of players, it was a very welcome reprise indeed for the man who basically got the series going.
