Pacific Rim: Uprising

In the grand scheme of things, we’re basically getting a Pacific Rim sequel by the skin of our teeth; the original in 2013 made just enough money at the Chinese box office to tip it into profitability. Still, you wouldn’t have guessed that given the way Pacific Rim: Uprising is now being promoted. It’s almost as if it’s one of the most hotly anticipated sequels out there. Of course Pacific Rim has its fans, and they should consider themselves teased for what’s about to come next in the battle between giant robots and giant aliens.  (more…)

When it’s not enough to have a gigantic Jaeger piloted by two people who are badass enough on their own, it’s often best to throw some killer weapons on board. That’s what it looks like the folks behind the upcoming film, Pacific Rim: Uprising, the sequel to the hit 2013 film are doing. Thanks to some production material released in February alongside some new images from collectible toy company, Tamashii Nations, we now have a better idea of just how deadly these Jaegers will be.

Details have begun to leak out of the production for the Guillermo Del Toro’s (Pan’s Labrinth, Hellboy, and Hellboy 2: The Golden Army) and Steven S. DeKnight’s (Smallville, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Angel) sequel Pacific Rim: Uprising and after getting an official photo just yesterday, a new image has been released this morning! Pictured in the photo are not one, not two, but three new Jaegers we can expect to see duking it out with Kaiju on the big screen. The sequel to Pacific Rim has been in the works since the first film came out in 2013 and even though details are scarce, these small teaser photos are making fans anxious!

The Pacific Rim sequel, now called Pacific Rim: Uprising, is presently before the cameras in Australia. The cameras are being overseen by accomplished cinematographer Dan Mindel, whose talented eye has been used on Star Trek and Star Wars: The Force Awakens, so naturally he’s a man who’s proud of his work. Like many in the entertainment business, he shares that work with updates on social media, but a recent post on Instagram might have shared more than the impression that Mindel is having fun on the set of the giant robots versus giant aliens sequel.
