From the “remakes no one asked for” file, comes news tonight that Edgar Ramirez is replacing Gerard Butler in the remake of the 90s surfer heist movie Point Break. Ramierez will star along side Luke Bracey in this new version of the film about disenfranchised surfers robbing banks to flip the bird to the system, and the lone, conflicted FBI agent, improbably named Johnny Utah, who’s not sure he wants to bring them to justice. Apparently there’s breaking casting news from the set of the planned Point Break remake (I know: Half of you are saying “What?”, while the rest are asking yourselves “Why?”).

So I’ll back up a little: Yes–a remake of 1991’s action-packed cheesefest starring Patrick Swayze, Keanu Reeves, and Gary Busey is indeed a thing, and is set to begin filming this fall, despite the necessity of recasting one of it’s stars–more after the parachute jump:  (more…)

Here’s something that has bad idea written all over it, but it’s being developed regardless. Nearly 25 years after its theatrical release, Paramount is talking about bringing Ghost to the small screen in a new series. Yes, that Ghost. The one with Patrick Swayze, pot making, the Righteous Brothers, and Academy Award winning acting by Whoopi Goldberg. (more…)
