Matt Damon! After 2012’s experiment in making Jeremy Renner the inheritor to Jason Bourne, the real deal is back for the fifth film in the franchise called simply Jason Bourne. A lot’s happened in the nearly 10 years since The Bourne Ultimatum: global recession, austerity throughout Europe, Wikileaks, Snowden, the Syrian refugee crisis… And it’s all Jason Bourne’s fault! Just kidding of course, but given all that, is it any wonder that Bourne disappeared to join Third World Fight Club? At least he’s stayed in shape because as the new trailer shows, there’s going to be a lot of running, jumping, shooting, punching, driving, riding, falling and crashing for Bourne in Bourne. (more…)

Bourne

There is no argument that Jeremy Renner is a badass.  Between his turn as William Brandt in Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol and his brief but wonderful scenes as Hawkeye through several Marvel movies, to name just a few examples, Renner has more than proved his level of baddassery.  When the fourth movie in the Bourne franchise, The Bourne Legacy, was announced and director Paul Greengrass (The Bourne Supremacy, The Bourne Ultimatum) decided to step aside with series star Matt Damon immediately following suit, Renner seemed like the perfect choice to carry on the super spy torch.  Unfortunately, while Renner did a fantastic job in his role, Legacy grossed almost $200mil less than its most recent predecessor.  While this was in no way a franchise killer (Legacy still grossed over $276mil worldwide and a sequel is in the works), it did leave fans a bit nostalgic for Damon’s Jason Bourne.  Well, a new report from Deadline suggests that fans of the series may have a bit to be excited for as it appears that Damon and Greengrass will be returning to the world of Bourne.
