If you’ve ever thought that Peter Pan’s story had more to tell, specifically from before he became the Pan, then Joe Wright‘s Pan is for you. We all know J.M. Barrie‘s story of the Boy Who Wouldn’t Grow Up, and now, thanks to writer Jason Fuchs, who is also writing a script for Warner Bros. Wonder Woman, we’ve got a very detailed look at Peter, before he became the Pan. (more…)
It’s one of those weeks, a week when we seem to get a whole bunch of trailers in one go because with the holiday weekend approaching it’s presumed that a lot of us are going to spend it in a movie theater. We’ve already got Jurassic World, we’re going see Star Wars: The Force Awakens either at the end of the week or before, so now it’s time for Pan, the latest in a line of movies aiming to turn well-established fairy tales on their head. Will Pan do for Peter what Oz: The Great and Powerful did for the Wizard, or what Maleficent did for the Sleeping Beauty villainess? Unknown, but I’ll say this: it’s a damn good looking trailer. Following up on their success last year with the live to air The Sound of Music starring Carrie Underwood and Stephen Moyer, NBC announced that their next musical theater revival would be the Charlap & Lee production of Peter Pan. Now we’ve already seen Girls star Allison Williams in costume as the titular lead, in keeping with the theatrical tradition of a woman playing the part of Peter, but now NBC has released its first image of Christopher Walken as the piece’s villain, Captain Hook. Walken will walk in the well worn books of Hook which have been put on by the likes of Hans Conried, Dustin Hoffman, Jason Isaacs, and Colin O’Donoghue. So how does he look? Well, look below to take a peak. (more…)
Most actors would kill for this kind of break with only four credits to their name. But then again, most actors Levi Miller‘s age don’t have four credits to their name. The young actor has been cast in Joe Wright‘s new retelling of Peter Pan’s origin in the simply titled Pan alongside Hugh Jackman, Rooney Mara, and Garrett Hedlund. (more…)
Continuing our recent spree of fairy tale news (earlier, Princess Bride the musical and the first Maleficant poster) the buzz in Hollywoodland is Joe Wright (Hanna, Atonement) is thinking happy thoughts about filming his own spin on the origin of Peter Pan. (more…)
Gary Ross, of Hunger Games fame, may be gearing up to take a shot at Disney’s Peter Pan character in a prequel to the classic adventure known as Peter and the Starcatchers. Disney has been working on the project for the last year and it looks like they have targeted the now-all-powerful Ross to take the lead on it.
Originally a novel by Dave Barry and Ridley Pierson, Peter and the Starcatchers has already become popular enough to generate its own Broadway production that has gathered an amazing five Tony awards. And while film is certainly not Broadway, the potential for Disney to milk Peter Pan for some serious cash while providing audiences with more adventures from the famous characters is too good to pass up.
If you, like me, are somewhat unfamiliar with Peter and the Starcatchers, here is a brief description of the story:
A young Peter who befriends Molly, a shipmate he meets on the Never Land ship headed towards King Zarboff. Molly tells Peter of a mysterious trunk filled with magical starstuff that must remain out of the hands of the pirate Black Stache (who will lose his hand and become Captain Hook). Together Peter and Molly lead an effort to recover the trunk, which takes them on a treacherous journey.
If the movie does get made, it is just the start of a series of books, with three more already on the shelves and waiting to be converted to film format. That could mean nice, juicy franchise potential for Disney and another big-money production for Ross.

I love this! Click the picture for a full-sized version. Ever wondered what the top ‘net browsers, Firefox, Opera, Internet Explorer, Chrome and Safari would look like as chicks in hawt dresses? Probably not. But here you have it, anyway! Credit goes to the very talented Moie “Eskimoie” Preisenberger.
This super cool collection of images is by Lissy Elle she uses photoshop and magic…yes magic to make these characters get back in their books! It’s obvious she’s proficient in photoshop and I couldn’t help but notice that most of the girls have dirty ass feet! She could have easily changed that. That having been said she really does have an amazing thing going here. Hang out after the jump to see full size images of Alice, Wendy, Hermione,Princess Aurora (Sleeping Beauty), and Belle (and some dirty feets!).
Internet has been kind for folks that has artistic skills and ideas for being the place to have them show their creation off while all I have to show was my old manga scanlations done on MS Paint. Juan Pablo Bravo, who did this awesome Pixar Character Size Chart, stepped his game up and jumped from two hundred characters to two hundred and fifty. He has them listed in order from the film’s release date and although it’s an estimation of their height, I say its pretty exact. Check the massive the picture out as it may listed an old movie you may have forgotten. Also, stop by Bravo’s page to look up some other things he has done.
