New Information on Marvel’s Phase 3!

When Marvel unveiled their plans for Phase 3 of their Cinematic Universe, they knew what they were doing.  In fact, ever since the House of Ideas started making their own movies, they have either had a game plan in mind or have done a hell of a job faking it.  Phase 3 will be the true test of the power of Marvel, as most of the films involved will feature characters that are new to the MCU, and the fact that millions of people who have never heard of the new characters are chomping at the bit for the release of those movies truly bodes well for the movie house.  Well, two pieces of information (one confirmed, one rumored) have surfaced that may make you love Marvel even harder, if that’s possible. Avengers: Age of Ultron is about all we’ve been able to talk about the last couple of weeks thanks to that awesome new trailer, with the exception of that brief break where Marvel Studios announced Phase 3. Avengers writer/director Joss Whedon‘s probably been pretty busy at the moment getting the movie ready for its release next summer, but even he’s not unaffected by current events, and he has some thoughts on all the recent leaks, news and considerations about all the latest Age of Ultron and Marvel Cinematic Universe news. In a new interview, Whedon discuss the sudden revelation that a couple Thor actors are appearing in AoU, his thoughts on the announcement of the Phase 3 slate, and other Marvel issues that have come up in the news. Ant-Man 2

After a tumultuous start, Ant-Man is coming sooner than it seems and there are still plenty of questions surrounding the MCU Phase 3 entry.  Will Evangaline Lilly’s Hope Van Dyne take up the mantle of Wasp, now that the story has supposedly strayed from the material the movie is based on?  Will Corey Stoll’s Darren Cross give us a new incarnation of Yellowjacket that we will be happy to root against?  Will director Peyton Reed be able to give audiences a movie that is as wonderful and quirky as they were hoping to get from original director Edgar Wright?  How long will Michael Douglas’s Hank Pym don the Ant-Man costume before passing the torch to Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang?  We will probably have to wait a while to get the answers to most of these questions but thanks to a recent interview, Douglas has given all of us the answer to one of the biggest questions that surrounds the movie. It looks like this is the phase of Marvel Studios development where they’re going to strut. After Guardians of the Galaxy proved that a comic book based on an out-there concept couldn’t just be turned into a competent film, but the smash hit of summer with all audiences, Marvel looks ready to push again by finishing a script based on a bunch of characters even more out there than the Guardians, the Inhumans. Are movie-goers ready for a trip to the Blue Area of the Moon, and a peek at the Terrigen Mist? We’re about to find out as Marvel has indeed completed a draft for The Inhumans. (more…)

Some stuff we just can’t stop talking about. Even if it’s years away from becoming reality, we can’t help ourselves. Even if there’s a chance nothing will ever, ever come of it, we get all excited like a kid who ate too many Pixie sticks. Of course, we hardly expect nothing to come of all this Doctor Strange discussion, Marvel’s too heavily invested in turning every character they have into something, be it their own movie, or a side character on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. But as the rumor mill keeps churning, Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige sat down once again to chill us out. (more…)

Lately, Marvel has been dominating the headlines. There’s been a media blitz over Guardians of the Galaxy in the wake of its trailer debut earlier in the week, and last night a short of list potential directors for the rumored Phase 3 film, Doctor Strange, began circulating. Now, less than 24 hours later, Mads Mikkelsen (Hannibal) finds his name attached for the lead role in Doctor Strange. (more…)

Okay, so maybe mystic ritual is a bit much. Unless you count throwing out giant paycheck promises as a mystical ritual (and gods know my poor ass certainly would). But the fact of the matter is that Marvel/Disney is gearing up to start with those big decisions regarding their ‘Phase 3’ project, Dr. Strange. And, naturally, the first step is to find someone to act as director for this thing. So who are they currently looking at? Read on for all the mystical goodness. (more…)

What a day for a ton of Avengers: Age of Ultron rumors. The latest, following today’s revelation that Paul Bettany had signed on to play The Vision, suggests that Ms. Marvel will also be joining the team in the upcoming sequel along with Vision, Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver. So should you believe it, or not? I don’t know, but the ranks of The Avengers are starting to sound a little swelled, don’t you think? (more…)

Expect a lot of these pieces over the next couple of weeks as Marvel Studios rolls out promotion for Thor: The Dark World, and in today’s installment of “Kevin Feige Says…,” the Marvel Studios head honcho discusses latter Phase 2 and Phase 3 details such as the threat of Ultron, the future of Loki, and when we might learn more details about what movies will be a part of the next wave of Marvel productions. (more…)

It was about this time last year that the movie rights for Daredevil reverted back to Marvel Studios after Twentieth Century Fox could make no movements with producing a new version of the project. So anyway, it’s been a year, and WHERE THE HELL IS OUR DAREDEVIL MOVIE?!?!?! The question was recently put to Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige, albeit in a less dickish way. (more…)
