Plastic Man

Cartoon Network
is only weeks away from rolling out their new Saturday morning line-up of toons, DC Nation. The block will include new episodes of Green Lantern: The Animated Series and Young Justice, as well as a slew of animated shorts all featuring DC characters. Thanks to the new Nerdist Channel we’ve got our first sneak peak at a short starring Plastic Man,

Voiced by Tom Kenny, who a few years back was part of the Plastic Man series that never happened, Plas will be starring in all new animated shorts. In addition to Plastic Man, there will shorts starring the Doom PatrolTeen Titans, and Batman shorts animated by Aardman Productions. Y’know, the guys behind Wallace and Gromit!!

The one show I’m most excited about in the new DC Nation block is Super Best Friends Forever from Lauren Faust. She’s the ultra cool lady who played part in creating My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, Powerpuff Girls, and Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends. Now she’ll be bringing her genius to Supergirl, Batgirl and Wonder Girl! Needless to say, I’m stoked. Thanks to TV Guide we’ve got our first look at the girls,

This bit from the article explains the show,

A humorous tone runs through all the shorts, including S.B.F.F. (short for Super Best Friends Forever), which stars Batgirl, Supergirl and Wonder Girl and “has plenty of action and fighting, but is really much more focused on comedy and laughs and how much fun it is to be a superhero,” says producer Lauren Faust.  ”It’s like taking a teenage experience but putting a superhero spin on it, in one episode, Supergirl and Batgirl try to convince Wonder Girl to sneak out in Wonder Woman’s invisible jet to go for a joyride.”  Guess even supergirls just wanna have fun.

What a great reason to wake up early on Saturday mornings!

DC Nation starts on Cartoon Network March 3rd at 10a (ET/PT).

Don’t Tease Me DC Nation

When Green Lantern: The Animated Series premiered Friday night (which, btw was surprisingly good), I only caught a glimpse of this trailer. I picked that moment to go to the fridge, damn it. Well, luckily the internet has delivered, the tease trailer for next years DC Nation block on the Cartoon Network is on DC’s YouTube channel. Oh has it delivered.

It flips past with quick cuts fast as hell, but there is a lot to get excited about. In addition to the shows Green Lantern and Young Justice, we see avery anime looking Batman (that almost makes up for the horrible looking Beware The Batman), a tie in to the video game Gotham City Imposters, Teen Titans à la Tiny Titans, Lego Batman, CLAYMATION BATMAN… sorry, was getting excited again. The teaser also has a few shots recycled from unseen pilots or test footage, the live action Blue Beetle and  the Andy Suriano and Tom Kenny (Sponge Bob Square Pants) produced Plastic Man.

That is just a taste, oh why I am explaining it to you, watch it for yourself after the jump.

The Interwebz is a great place for artists to share their nerdy work, even though a lot of the time it’s stuff like Harry Potter and Voldemort poking each other with their “wands” and shit like that. There are a ton of awesome things to behold every day but we’re fuckin’ lazy bastards, so we just put it all together once a week to keep your mojos happy.

This week we’ll start off with some art nouveau pieces by Megan Lara, which are on sale here. These posters come in a set of four, one for each of the major women in Firefly and Serenity. Who doesn’t like themselves a purdy poster of a sexy space hooker, and then some?

Jump for more awesomeness!
