After what’s seemed like months of teasing, the first crossover (and we’ve got to assume that it will be the first of many) between Supergirl andThe Flash happens in exactly one week. A magazine cover last spring featuring stars Melissa Benoist and Grant Gustin (along with the Greg Berlanti, the executive producer of both shows) proved how photogenic they are together, which in Hollywood is half of any effort. But now, we get to see if the two have any chemistry, and the proof offered in the promo for “World’s Finest” answers in definitive terms, they do!. It looks like next week’s crossover is going to be a lot of fun indeed. (more…)
The new TV season will kick off in just a couple of weeks, but Arrow fans will have to wait a couple of weeks longer then that for the premiere of the new adventures of the vigilante from Starling City and his super friends to debut. In the mean time, let’s tide you over with a brand new look at the new season. A full trailer was posted online after being shown at Dragon Con last weekend, and even though this new one is a scant 30 second long it does offer one intriguing new thing, and that’s the first time a character from the show is called by his proper comic book name. It’s time to play the music. It’s time to light the lights! It’s time for some shameless cross-network self-promotion. The Muppets debuts later this month on ABC, and they’re trying to raise some awareness with a series of promos featuring actors from other popular ABC series because, you know, The Muppets need more brand recognition. Of course, the original Muppet Show was well known for its celebrity guest appearances, so why not take advantage of that legacy through the lens of corporate synergy? So here are the most sensational, inspirational, celebrational, Muppetational, corporatational, promos possible for the all new Muppet show. (more…)
In less than a month, the final chapter of of The Hunger Games saga will begin, and a little over a year from now it will end. Mockingjay – Part 1 bows in theaters in a couple of weeks, but you can buy tickets for the film today. You know what else that’s available today? A new promo clip for the film! For those of you, who saw one or both of the previous Hunger Games segments, but were unimpressed with the format, then you should know that Mockingjay blows things up both actually and stylistically by following the all-out civil war between the citizens of the various districts of Panem and the Capitol that rules them all under jack boots and iron fists. The “Hell yeah!” moment of this clip features our heroine Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) with a very special message for the Capitol’s villain-in-chief, President Snow (Donald Sutherland). Sure, we’ve all seen the leaked shots from the set of James Mangold‘s The Wolverine showing off Hugh Jackman looking – once again- ripped to the core. We get it, he’s the pinnacle of masculinity. One thing, though, those leaked images never confirmed if Jackman’s shorter hair style was official.
Now the first official image of The Wolverine has been released by 20th Century Fox, which is based on the Chris Claremont and Frank Miller‘s 1982 limited series. And, judging by the first look, Logan is keeping the much shorter locks – Oh joy.
I for one actually welcome the new look. Not the veined out shirtless Logan. That’s always impressive to those of us that get their exercise from a Wii fit. It’s the hair… it no longer looks like it’s going to spread wings and fly.
There’s no real details you can get from this other then he’s in a temple and adamantimum claws mean shit is about to go down, look’s like a blast so far.
The Wolverine is scheduled for release July 26th, 2013.
AMC and The Walking Dead, for almost three seasons, has had everyone on the edge of their seats fearing the dead. Now, according to the latest promos, the biggest thing to fear my be those left alive.
For the past two seasons, we’ve seen our survivors dealing with insurmountable odds. Most of the time it’s been due to the walkers or Shane losing his shit, or Carl not staying in the god damn house. Thankfully, though, one problem is fixed. SPOILER ALERT!!! Shane is no longer alive. And, that’s changed the ground rules of survival for everyone: “Fight the dead. Fear the living.”
These three new trailers, as short as they are, offer a small taste of what’s to come in the upcoming season. And seeing as how someone always dies, it’s not a matter of what gets you this time around, but who.
A prison filled with Zombies, confined spaces, torturing us with the death of Dale again and The Governor deal with? Robert Kirkman is straight up being a damn tease. But, man, is it ever working on us. We’re so siked for this season.
The Walking Dead returns for season three Sunday, October 14th only on AMC.
I know right now everyone’s got tunnel vision for The Avengers and the other hits of summer like Prometheus and The Dark Knight Rises, but there is life at the movies after Labor Day, and one example is Quentin Tarantino‘s latest film, Django Unchained.
In the latest about the film from Entertainment Weekly, the magazine shared a couple of promo stills from the film, and a couple of words from Django star Jamie Foxx:
There’s a beautiful way [Tarantino] found for the characters to talk to each other. It’s mindblowing. You’ve never heard it this way. You’ve seen movies deal with slavery — or westerns that never dealt with slavery – do it the safe way. This way is like … wow.
Hoping to capitalize on TRON: Legacy and spark interest in a third TRON film, Disney is releasing a new animated series set in The Grid for this summer called, TRON: Uprising. Even if Legacy underwhelmed you I suggest you check out this short promo for Uprising. You might be surprised at how excited you get.
Yeah, it’s short, the true definition of teaser but what you see looks awesome. The hybrid of traditional and computer generated animation is a perfect fit for the computer world. Here’s the basic premise for the series which is set between the original TRON and Legacy,
Beck is a young program who becomes the skillful leader of a revolution inside the computer world of The Grid. His mission is to free his home and friends from the reign of the villainous Clu 2 and his henchman General Tesler. Beck will be trained by Tron – the greatest warrior the Grid has ever come to know. Tron will not only teach Beck the fighting and light cycle skills he needs to challenge this brutal military occupation, but he will be a guide and mentor to him as he grows beyond his youthful, impulsive nature into a courageous, powerful, strong leader. Destined to become the next Tron of the system, Beck adopts Tron’s persona and becomes the archenemy of General Tesler and his oppressive forces.
Uprising will feature Elijah Wood as Beck, Lance Henrikson as General Tesler, Fred Tatasciore as Kevin Flynn/Clu, and Bruce Boxleitner reprising Tron. Also contributing voices will be Emmanuelle Chriqui, Mandy Moore, Paul Reubens, Nate Corddry, and Reginald VelJohnson. I really like the sound of this cast. Uh, no pun intended.
Uprising airs on Disney XD this summer in June. I’m hoping it’s a success and I think it’ll fulfill what I’ve always wanted from the TRON series, more time in The Grid and less user/program drama with the Flynns. What do you think of Uprising?
With the emminant launch of The Walking Dead season 2.5 less then a month away it’s time for the promos to kick into high gear. AMC has treated us with a clip for next episode titled “Nebraska”. In the clip, we catch a quick conversation between a visually upset Rick and liquored up Hershel before the intro of two new characters. Yep, two new survivors! *Grumble* Neither of which is Michonne.
After the barn incident, there is much conflict among both groups of survivors, Hershel wants Rick and his group to leave immediately and Shane accuses Rick to be just as delusional as Hershel saying that Hershel knew about Sophia the whole time and hid her from the group. Dale tells Andrea to be careful about her relationship with Shane since Dale knows what kind of person Shane is and now wants him gone from the group. He also reveals this to Lori, including the fate of Otis.
First half of season 2 dragged. Here’s hoping the conflict, turmoil, and suspense is taken up a notch.
The concept of faith is a very heavy subject in season six of Dexter. America’s favorite serial killer has more issues then ever. During yesterday’s “Dexter” panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2011, stars Michael C. Hall, C.S. Lee, Mos Def and Colin Hanks were all present to talk about the upcoming season. They even dropped the premiere date for the fans, how sweet are they?
Showtime was generous enough to release the full trailer for the sixth season of “Dexter” to come out Sunday, October 6th at 9PM.
Like we previously mentioned, this season will heavily rely on the theme of faith. With all the things Dexter has done he has begun to grapple with the fear of what may become of his son. Hall reportedly said that Dexter has become fearful that his murderous ways may pass on to his son, now sharing similarities in the way they have and are growing up. As we’ve reported before, the main theme for the new season is faith. This is shaping up to be the most sinful season of Dexter yet.
