Every day the internet produces an astounding amount of goodies and gems. Most hilarious, some amusing, but all worth at least a few seconds of your time. We here at Nerd Bastards try to bring you the best bits of news and nerdery the webz has to offer, with a bit of snark thrown in. But sometimes not everything makes the cut.
Monday through Friday we’ll be bringing you our inbox leftovers, our forgotten bookmarks, the nerdy bits that simply slipped through the cracks. You can submit items to Nerdy Bits by emailing us at firstname.lastname@example.org
Above: Doom comes in many shapes and sizes. Today, yours has come in the form of cute vampire kitty. But be warned, despite its adorableness it is still a harbinger of death. (Fashionably Geek)
Just as cute but not nearly as ominous is this awesome Valkyrie cosplay from Victoria Henderson. (Fashionable Geek)
Hey Harry Potter fans! You sad the movies are over? Oh don’t cry, ’cause the magic will continue. Warner Bros. is opening up a tour of its Leavesden soundstages, where much of the films were shot. Called “Warner Bros. Studio Tour London — The Making of Harry Potter,” it’s as close as you’ll ever get to rubbing your wand against the tri-wizard cup.
The three-hour walking tour will cover 150,000 square feet, including two dedicated soundstages of Warner Bros. Studios in West Hertfordshire, England. “Potterphiles” will get to tour actual sets from the franchise, including the Great Hall, Dumbledore’s office, Hagrid’s hut, and the Gryffindor common room, all the while checking out various artifacts, props, and costumes from the franchise. A Creature Effects workshop will show visitors the animatronics that brought characters like Buckbeack the Hippogriff, Aragog, Fawkes, and the basilisk from Chamber of Secrets. Someone please Avada Kedavra me, pretty please.
