This ain’t a pic from Brett Ratner‘s Hercules: The Thracian Wars–based on a well-known graphic novel and starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. No, the hunk of meat shown above in the scavenged 300 costume is Twilight‘s Kellan Lutz in Renny Harlin‘s Hercules: The Legend Begins–the first teaser trailer is below. (more…)
Brett Ratner is a man whose directorial work many might place on the same level as a war crime. If you’ve ever tried to sit down and watch Rush Hour 3 or X-Men: The Last Stand, you probably know exactly what I’m talking about. But for some reason people keep giving this guy money and letting him direct. His latest project is a piece based on the Hercules legend, titled, naturally, Hercules. Now, we here at Nerd Bastards have some news for you from the casting couch.
First and foremost, Ian McShane will be coming onboard to play the role of Amphiarus. This character is loosely described as a warrior/priest/prophet that bestows advice on Hercules and guides him during his journey.
Other additions consist of names both big and small, including Joseph Fiennes, John Hurt and Rebecca Ferguson. What roles any of these actors will be playing is as-of-yet unknown. They will joining in with the already cast Rufus Sewell (playing Autolycus), Askel Hennie (in the role of Tydeus) and the artist formerly known as “The Rock”, Dwayne Johnson, in the titular role of Hercules.
In case you’re in the dark on the project, it’s based on a pair of Hercules comic book series written by Steve Moore, illustrated by Cris Bolsin and published by Radical Publishing.
If you can bring yourself to sit through another of Ratner’s films, check out Hercules when it hits theaters comes July 25th, 2014.
