Even the craziest odds makers in Vegas wouldn’t take a bet about Micheal Keaton getting asked about Beetlejuice 2 in just about every RoboCop reboot publicity interview he’ll do this opening week. It’s what they call a “Sure Thing,” but we still want to hear him talk about the possibilities. (more…)
While making the publicity rounds for José Padilha‘s RoboCop Reboot, Gary Oldman was asked if there was any chance he might join the Star Wars Franchise. You’re gonna love his answer. (more…)
Jose Padilha‘s long delayed RoboCop reboot starring Joel Kinnaman as the eponymous law-enforcing cyborg is shaping up to be the first big Nerd Cinema feeding frenzy of 2014. And today, we’ve got a total of FOUR Robo-Adverts that should give you a good indication as to why (trailers start after the jump). (more…)
The second trailer for Jose Padilha‘s RoboCop reboot has hit the Internet. All those folks that were so upset when the reboot was announced might have to un-bunch those panties. This trailer looks fantastic! (more…)
It’s a vital part of the whole money-making machine that is Hollywood these days, the tie-ins and the toys. While we don’t know which burger chain is going to have Robo-Burgers, we have gotten a sneak peek at some of the toys for Jose Padilha‘s ROBOCOP Reboot.
KanpekiSetto, a Spanish toy collectibles website has posted some new images and pricing for the upcoming movie merchandise produced by Jada Toys. The site lists these as available for shipment on April 4th, 2014. Hmm, a whole two months after the movie hits in the states, I’m betting we’ll see these toys on shelves much sooner.
Take a look at the gallery below, it’s the usual stuff one would expect from a movie like this. I do love the trend of movie masks that has been going on. Those actually look good on the wall and my nephews love running around wearing the things.
ROBOCOP hits theater screens on February 7th, 2014 starring Joel Kinnaman, Samuel L. Jackson, Micheal Keaton, Abbie Cornish, and Jay Baruchel.
There are some new pictures straight from the set of Jose Padilha‘s RoboCop Reboot that shed better light on RoboCop’s new look. The helmet has an improved, sleeker look and feel while maintaining the familiar red visor.
This is the first real look at RoboCop’s sidearm weapon of choice and I’m willing to hold off commenting until I get a closer look. I didn’t think I would like Judge Dredd’s new sidearm, but after seeing it on the big screen, it’s all good. Perhaps I’ll feel the same way here.
We can make out some of the added details of RoboCop’s armor, but I’m still having BIG problems with that human hand. It looks way out of place and unprotected. Are we suddenly to believe that the soul less corporation that experimented on a dead police officers body is going to leave his hands unprotected and unable to punch the crap out of the side of a building or car?
What do you think, do these pictures change your mind or just reinforce your dislike? Let your fellow NerdBastards know what you think in the comments section below.
While fans are still ranting and reeling from their first look at Jose Padiha’s Robocop reboot armor, some new pictures have hit the Internet to give us all a look at Robocop’s new ride.
We also get to see what Robocop (Joel Kinnaman) wears when he gets out of the shower, a stylish black bathrobe. There’s no use trying to hide that armor on set, fans have already seen it online and many have already made up their minds about the film because of it. Can the Robocop production team win those much needed fans back? Padilha and his team will have an uphill battle to recapture fans whose reactions to a couple of pictures of an unfinished (CGI to add?) armor have been anything but positive.
On the brighter side of the Robocop production we get a look at Abiie Cornish, who plays Alex Murphy’s wife in the reboot. The police cruiser and motorcycles also throw a small ray of sunshine on the film after the armor debut debacle. That patrol car looks fantastic and is that Robocop on one of those motorcycles?
What do you think, can fans be brought back to the franchise after the whole armor mess? Many fans who say they won’t go see the movie will buckle once the movie comes out and slink to the theater to see the movie. They just won’t post about it on Facebook after.

There’s been varying degrees of love and hate since the idea of a RoboCop reboot was announced. It’s been more than 15 years, so theoretically the franchise is ripe for a second go, but still some naysay that the original was good enough and that a new incarnation would be blasphemous. But off it went regardless and it’s only a few days from beginning the shooting process. Now, in an effort to drum up more interest (and no doubt calm the nerves of hardcore fans worldwide) an official plot synopsis has been released.
In RoboCop, the year is 2028 and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the center of robot technology. Their drones are winning American wars around the globe and now they want to bring this technology to the home front. Alex Murphy (Joel Kinnaman) is a loving husband, father and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit. After he is critically injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp utilizes their remarkable science of robotics to save Alex’s life. He returns to the streets of his beloved city with amazing new abilities, but with issues a regular man has never had to face before.
Well, it looks about the same as the first one, which means they’re not going too far off the beaten path. Those involved in the film, however, have expressed the intent to concentrate more on the story as it’s spelled out in the final line of that synopsis. This would make it more character-oriented and less the shoot-em-up, atmospheric piece that the first was.
Casting is hopeful as well, with Joel Kinnamen as Alex Murphy/RoboCop, Michael Keaton as the evil CEO of OmniCorp, Raymond Sellars, Gary Oldman as Norton, the man with the plan who designs our beloved hero, and Michael Kenneth Williams playing Robocop’s squishy human partner. Add Samuel L. Jackson into the mix and you’ve got quite an interesting line-up.
Look for the new RoboCop to hit theaters August 9th, 2013.
Thanks to blastr for the news.
Even if you’re not all that enthusiastic about Jose Padilha‘s remake of RoboCop (and hey, who could blame you?), it’s getting harder and harder to ignore how cool the cast is. We’ve already got Gary Oldman, Samuel L. Jackson, Hugh Laurie and Jackie Earle Haley, among others, and now it seems the flick has landed one of the baddest dudes to ever step into an HBO crime drama.
This NerdBastard will always think of Blackadder when Hugh Laurie shows up. Laurie is just that good when it comes to comedy. Of course he’s pretty damn good at the serious stuff too, just watch a couple of House episodes.
The Internet Rumor Mill is spinning with word that Hugh Laurie is in talks to play the head villain in the upcoming Jose Padilha Robocop reboot, the role of Omni Corp CEO. Laurie joins an already impressive cast that includes Joel Kinnaman, Gary Oldman, Abbie Cornish, and Samuel L. Jackson.
Robocop is the story of Detroit police officer Alex Murphy (Kinnaman), murdered while on duty and remade into an unstoppable cyborg of the law. Laurie’s character is described as the extremely wealthy head of Omni Corp, the company that creates Robocop for their own benefit.
Oldman is already locked down to play the scientist who creates Robocop, a new character to the Robocop franchise. Cornish signed on last week to play Alex Murphy’s wife, who initially believes him to be dead, while Jackson will play powerful TV mogul Pat Novak.
Robocop is expected to hit theaters August 9, 2013.
