Robot Chicken

The ‘Robot Chicken: The Walking Dead’ Trailer

Let’s be honest here, with The Walking Dead about to launch into it’s 8th season (you can watch the trailer here,) we’ve been seen endless tortures, cannibalism, graphic violence, pudding that has to be way past its expiration date, and more unspeakable horrors. It’s almost like like in the zombie apocalypse isn’t fun at all. Where is the singing? Where is the dancing? Where are the outdated pop-culture references?

Well, apparently they are over at Adult Swim’s  forthcoming Robot Chicken’s The Walking Dead Special, the trailer for which just premiered at San Diego Comic-Con. Check it out: (more…)

SuperMansion

Yes, there’s a lot of super-hero stuff out there these days – movies, TV shows, and of course, comic series galore.  But most super-fare is either very do-goody, very “serious,” or a combination of the two.  So, when new content comes along that doesn’t take itself too seriously, we might want to pay attention – as is the case with SuperMansion, the upcoming web series produced and starring Bryan Cranston (he of Breaking Bad and Malcolm in the Middle fame).  Oh, and it’s claymation as well, which always kicks ass.

Every day, the internet produces an astounding amount of goodies and gems. Most hilarious, some amusing, but all worth at least a few seconds of your time. We here at Nerd Bastards try to bring you the best bits of news and nerdery the webz has to offer, with a bit of snark thrown in. But sometimes not everything makes the cut. Monday through Friday we’ll be bringing you our inbox leftovers, our forgotten bookmarks, the nerdy bits that simply slipped through the cracks. high_moonMicrosoft is aggressively moving forward with its plans to take on not just the video game market, but the online streaming video world of Netflix and Hulu with original programming for Xbox customers.

First two Halo-based shows were announced, along with the sci-fi drama Humans, then a series of gamer-interest documentaries–including one about the recent discovery of the legendary Atari E.T. landfill.

Next in line seems to be a number of ambitious projects–of particular note, a series based on the popular (and fun as Hell) tabletop RPG Deadlands, and a miniseries version of the graphic novel series Winterworld. (more…)

With Thanksgiving this week, our thoughts will turn to the gift getting holidays soon enough. Yes, all day everyday, it’ll be all we think of. (You know it’s true!)

The Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim is no exception, and fresh from the Bastards’ e-mail inbox comes a reminder that the network has a pair of holiday specials coming up that you might find interesting. Here’s the press release:

Adult Swim stuffs your stocking with two holiday specials this December from NTSF:SD:SUV:: and Robot Chicken.

Thursday, December 6 at 12:15 a.m. (ET, PT): NTSF:SD:SUV:: – “Christmas Activity” – While celebrating Christmas together at Kove’s house, the team is attacked by the evil Alaskan Santa Claus.

Sunday, December 9 at midnight (ET, PT): Robot Chicken Holiday Special – “Robot Chicken’s ATM Christmas Special” – The Robot Chicken Christmas Special has Santa nearly missing Christmas; Kano from Mortal Kombat shares the holidays with Mrs. Cage; Justin Bieber’s new song is bound to be a Christmas hit; The writers give G.I. Joe a very special Christmas.

Sounds like good watching. To set the mood, let’s revisit Robot Chicken’s hilarious opening sequence from last year’s Christmas special, an especially sadistic mash-up of Santa Claus and James Bond.

Seth Green, Mathew Senreich and the rest of the Robot Chicken family are putting their old Super Powers toys to good use — the Emmy Award-winning show is returning for it’s sixth season and it’s kicking things off in a big way with The Robot Chicken DC Comics Special, which premiers September 9th at midnight.

On the special — which is co-produced by Geoff Johns and made in co-operation with DC Comics — Green (who will voice Batman, Robin, and Aquaman) teams up with a group of his super friends to do to the DCU what they previously did with Star Wars in the Annie Award winning RC/Star Wars mash-up trilogy. Who are these super friends? Neil Patrick Harris (Two Face), Alfred Molina (Lex Luthor), Breckin Meyer (Superman), Megan Fox (Lois Lane), and the People’s Green Lantern (aka Nathan Fillion) as, well, the Green Lantern. Alex Borstein, Zeb WellsAbe Benrubi, Clare Grant, Tara Strong, Senreich, Tom Root, and Kevin Shinick will also provide voices, with Shinick serving as both a co-producer and the narrator. Seth Green will direct the episode.

Do you demand more information? In addition to revealing the cast list and the release date for the eagerly anticipated dip into DC lore, Adult Swim also announced some of the other guest stars who will be a part of season six and this list is both long and diverse:

Elizabeth Banks, Sarah Chalke, Kat Dennings, Sam Elliott, Ben Foster, Whoopi Goldberg, Lucas Grabeel, Megan Hilty, Gillian Jacobs, Robert Kirkman, Zachary Levi, J.B. Smoove, Liev Schreiber, Jon Stewart, Patrick Stewart, Stanley Tucci, Olivia Wilde, and Alex Winter.

Again, season six of Adult Swim’s Robot Chicken premiers on September 9th at midnight with The Robot Chicken DC Comics Special, so watch it or we are so goona make fun of you. Still need more convincing? Check out the official trailer for the special and marvel at the cornucopia of DC heroes that will be in this thing. Besides, this is the closest thing you’re goona get to a Justice League movie for a long, long time.

Robot Chicken is taking on DC Comics biggest heroes with some of Hollywood’s biggest, Nerd favorite stars.

Following in the footsteps of the Robot Chicken Star Wars specials, the Robot Chicken DC Comics Special will take a close, stop-motion look at our favorites, Batman, Superman, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, and the rest of the DC Comics universe.

Yeah, yeah . . . you too Aquaman . . .

To voice these heroes Robot Chicken has pulled out all the stops with Robot Chicken co-creator Seth Green as Batman, Robin and Aquaman; Paul Reubens as The Riddler; Neil Patrick Harris as Two-Face; Alfred Molina as Lex Luthor; Nathan Fillion as the Green Lantern; Megan Fox as Lois Lane; and Breckin Meyer as Superman.

”Having been raised on DC Comics and the Super Friends vs. Legion of Doom, it’s exciting to tell a whole Robot Chicken story within this awesome universe,” Green said.

Robot Chicken co-creator Matthew Senreich:

“We’ve been working with (DC Entertainment chief creative officer) Geoff Johns for over 15 years, so playing together on this special only made it more fun to work in the worlds we all love so dearly.”

Stoopid Buddy Stoodios, DC Entertainment, and Warner Bros Animation worked out the details and later this year we’ll all get the chance to enjoy this Robot Chicken project.

Witness what might be the greatest costume…ever. For a dog anyway. Meet the Wampug.

Chubbs is owned by uber Star Wars fan, Star Wars Chick. She says,

Every year I make a new costume for my girl Chubbs and this year was no exception. This year she became the dreaded Hoth Wampug! Here she coming directly from her photoshoot and looking cute as can be!

I take  back everything I’v ever said about how dumb and pathetic animals look dressed in costumes. Because this is too awesome, too adorable, and guys, she’s a Wampug. Fuck, if they could collect the DNA of the fictional creature, the Wampa, and blend it with a pug’s, it would be the single greatest pet ever. (Laughing Squid)

This short film entitled, ‘Death of a Ghostbuster’ raises some really important questions. Like, when they capture ghosts that aren’t harming anyone are they just condemning them to some kind of horrible purgatory like existence? That’s harsh, man. (You Bent My Wookie)
